Maybe we can pool our money together and get one. I would be jockying for the left earstem. If we could get 4 more buyins for the front, right side, the bag, the box with the paperwork we could all share in the experience. Maybe meet once a year to slap it together and celebrate the moment of its union. After we go home with a different part of it until the next year.
I hope nobody can tell I am in a quandary over this. DOH!! was I writing outloud again?
you know archer, i real like the gascan, as most, but i think the price is just to high.. serious.
if the price was 250 euro, i would like be oke fine..but 400 euro,.
man here the currency is like. 1us$ is 1.75 florins..
our local currency.
the euro is 1 euro is 2.4 florins..
for me it is 400 euro with out shipping, is 960.00
am thinking about it .. but for one sunglass ......
and an o matter..
i think oakley should have thought a little more on the price.
It is a real brain scrambler. I am going to stick my head in the toilet and think about it somemore. I need to flush out the madness or drown trying. Oh the humanity! Oh the gurggles...
Even though I think the price is waay too high, you still gotta think, "I'm probably gonna end up buying more Oakley's that aren't even all that rare anyways." As an Oakley fan, the same amount of money is going to go to Oakley either way. So, whats it gonna be? 2 X-Metals? or an extremely rare piece of Art on plastic frames?
Chacho speaks the truth. I think this is one pair you'd regret not having if you had the opportunity to grab it.
That being said, this is my message to Oakley: Have pity on us poor collectors that admire your company so... Next time, make the LE's hard to acquire by geography and/or production number only. NOT PRICE!
Bill thanks for pulling my head out of the toilet with that mantra. I would also like to add, why make something so cool, limited. Something doesn't have to be rare for me to buy it. The C100 I am sure would appeal to more than 500 collectors and non collectors. Make 2000 and cut the price to $200 and you still come out ahead. It would sure calm things down around here. The tragedy is not the demise of the DF2, or the inflated price of a 3rd illustrated Gascan, but the spirit of this forum recently. Through senseless judgement, envy and anger we give the DF2 more value then it's worth. AND I DON'T MEAN MONETARY WORTH!! It reminds me of Stephen King's movie "Needful Things". People stop living in Illusion and Fantasy. Don't let opinions get in the way of reality! We are collectors and as far as I can tell there isn't a Gandi, Budda, Jesus, or Mohamad amoungst us. Get perspective and understand the relationship of everything that involves our passion. We are all terminal patients, so lets all help nurse our sickness and stop with the finger pointing already. If anyone really believes they are the messiah of oakley, then step forward and be judged. What ever you might think of Jim Jannard, god he is not and should be viewed as such. If he was, he would have made only one pair of glasses that appealed to the multiude. Instead he keeps going back to the drawing board to fashion a pair of optics that stands alone. But that will be an impossible task as long as there are finicky collectors like ourselves, to design for. Just because we collect glasses, doesn't give us the excuse to be short sighted.
G,
That is very deep, do you write for a living? I am being serious...the words you posted above needs to be copied on the Flores thread! You have a god (higher power) given talent to write very inspiring words, very refreshing in this day and time my friend, well said again!!
well said archer, i agree, i think you already give yout piece on the flores thread.
I mean let's stop calling each other sell out's , our collector or non collector.
he who has one, will do what he likes with it.
again, i love this piece but am not sure if i will get one..
since money wise this moment is hard.
I totally agree with your comments George and thank you for words, but altruism runs through the veins of the majority of the O-review members. As you yourself have proved.
It is as ever a privelidge to be part of such a collective.
Everyone is free to make their own decisions, lets not forget we are talking about sunglasses here.
Should we get everything we want all the time. Just a thought
Thank you fin7. These words are coming from a man who exemplifies the heart of selflessness. It is because of this forum, that I have had the pleasure of meeting people like himself. A true gentlemen in my book!
We are a collective fan ( for the most part) of the older stuff that was outside of the fashion "norm"....
That is what made Oakley great.... The fashion crap they have been cranking out in the recent times has been "Yawn" at best.
Now they come out with some somewhat cool stuff and make it completely limited??? C'mon man... what about the core fans? What the hell?
X-Metal is what made Oakley desireable and cool....In my opinion...
It's like they have abandoned this for the cheap plastic shit that is waay overpriced....
Don't get me wrong - I love the new Flak and Radar... But where is the core Oakley that made them unique?
I want cutting edge! I want new X-Metals and cutting edge fashion! I'm sick of this blending in shit!
Let's step outside the line again - Like the OTT - push the envelope - make an O statement as the Psycho company that defies the norm.... I want Bleeding Edge....
O has breeched every avenue of fashion now - let's get back to what made O great - Mad Science!
