Just Sour Grapes from me. Was hoping to be able to get a nice new O Matter pair to wear.

If these do well then that will prove that these people will eat up anything. The only thing besides the colorways that even distinguishes these as a Supreme item is the 1 inch logo screened onto the inside of the stem so it can't even be seen when wearing. I have to have 1 pair at least

Mhm... I'm really disappointed at the moment. No cool new releases coming and the exclusives/rarities that are nice are either extremly rare - unobtainable for a usual european collector - or unjustified expensive... it really sucks.

All I can think is imagine convincing oakley ($$$) to pull out an old mold that hasn't been used for over a decade and a half. A mold in which most cases would have been destroyed years ago. Then to get it on the production line, taking time away from other models. It's one thing to get a custom made of a current model molding it in a non release color and cutting a custom lens, but this is above and beyond that.

Like Bill or EC said, everytime I've been in Philly and stopped in this one store to look at artsy old model (new) Nikes that price is so high because of similar steps. Old patterns, low qty runs and the custom colors. Of course if O goes into a mass retro reproduction of these I can't see the common O buyer paying more than $75-100 for them.

Supreme x Vans, Oakley release dates
Posted on April 1, 2007

Supreme have just announced that their Vans Half Cab, Old Skools and Chukkas will be out in NY and LA on April 12th, along with the Supreme x Oakley Frogskins. Both releases will drop in Japan on the 14th.

Found here: http://www.slamxhype.com/

I have no ideal how hardcore Supreme fans are about either of these but I'm inclined not to take any chances.

Now, I'm bound to offend some frog fans with this but as revolutionary as frogs undeniably were at the time I still feel that its x-metals and wires that have defined the O as a stand out brand...personally, I didnt get into the O until the mid 90s so I probably dont appreciate the frogs as much now.

I think Oakley has a gift in designing something that will strike a chord with someone, we're all here because we love the O in all its forms...but the frogskins dont do it for me...but oooooooh x-metals *drools*

I suppose it'd be different if they released something similar in the main lineup, but it's just a limited re-release for those who want it.

I'll agree with the X-Metals, but the majority of the wires are not terribly innovative or defining, just fillers. You've gotta give O-Matter it's credit for defining Oakley as a standout brand. Just look at the history, not only in the Frog, but the OTT, the Splice, Plate, and the HJ.

The only thing revolutionary about Frogskins was colors, otherwise they were pretty much a variation on the Ray Ban Wayfarer. I like them for the look &, of course, the quality

I just learned from Nik that we have a Supreme store here in Hawaii. Huh. Go fig.
So supposedly I might have an easy access to these glasses. But I'll be damned if I'm spending more than $80 on a pair of Frogskins.

I don't know about you guys, but I think that $160 is WAY too much to pay for any readily available O Matter frame when you could snag a nice pair of original Frogskins on eBay for less. Thats just me though...

Like I said, I'm super excited about some of the non-Supreme colorways that are scheduled.

So today was a mess in NYC. Torrential rain, low 40's. The trek up took forever with traffic, but I managed to get to the Supreme store about 20mins before they opened. There were already 40-50 people lined up outside the store equally cold, wet and a quietly bitter. I thought to myself "F-n great, I drive all the way up here for nothing", but Michelle calms me down as she usually does and tells me they're probably all waiting for the Vans (also being released today). Most of the people waiting had snazzy shoes on so I was inclined to agree but I was still admittedly pessimistic about my chances of snagging the pair I came for.

So again, it was about 11:10, the store opens at 11:30 as expected and they start filtering people in 5 at a time (are you serious!) to make their purchases. Almost everyone walking out had shoe boxes so I started feeling better (although a sunglass box could easily be in every large bag that walked out of the store). The line crept along at a snails pace. At one point, the owner of the store next to Supreme threatened to call the police if we didnt stop blocking his doorway. I was the only one to tell him to go to hell I think. I was so cold, and anxious at that point, I really didnt care (people weren't exactly beating the door down to get in either).

Long story short, not being able to feel my extremeties, I finally get in the store at 12:10, get what I came for and get the hell out. I meant to take pictures in the store, but there wasnt much to look at as far as Oakley goes. All five colorways were just lined up in the display case under the register and the employees (save a few) were pretty rude through the whole experience. I hope others who decided to venture out to get these had a better time.

Now for the good stuff...

The one out of the box is mine and the others are spoken for. They all looked nice. If the price was at or under $100, I would have gotten them all.

BTW, the icons are brushed metal which was an unexpected nice touch, and the Violet Iridium is like a more purple Blue Iridium with no green at all. From most angles, it looks entirely purple, but dead on, the center is blue (kinda like +Red).

Wow, just wow. They're awesome. Sorry to hear about all the hassle, but it looks worth it in the end. Did they end up having regular SKU's.

Man those are hot. Are Oakley dealers going to stock these or will it only be the Supreme Outlets?

Dunno on the numbers, but "Supreme" is all over the packaging, bag, lasso, and glasses so you can bet all of theses particular SKU's are LE.
