And one of my most anticipated 2017 movies, John Wick: Chapter 2:

The first movie had incredible action scenes. Looks like this one is more of the same but amped up even further. - Oak

The Jason Bourne reboot that should have been starring Keanue Reeves basically. They could have started there instead after Ultimatum with some tweaks to the script. You can see his traiing with Taran Tactical and all that three gun practice translated well to the big screen once again.

It kinda got lost in the Cubs World Series mania for me, but I just watched this past week's Agents of Shield episode, and it was the episode I was waiting for! Real compelling with the origin story and the plot getting real thick, hope they can keep the momentum going.

I was recommended Black Mirror on Netflix a couple months back and have finally gotten a chance to finish it. What an absolutely brilliant series. There's only 13 episodes across three seasons (the first two seasons were a British Channel 4 show until Netflix commissioned 12 more eps for season 3 and upcoming 4), but most of them are fantastic. It's an anthology, so each episode is self contained with very little connective tissue. The self-contained aspect makes it convenient since you don't need to recall what went on previously. Highly recommended.

I just realized that the prime minister from S1E1 was Caliban from Penny dreadful. Good actor, I need to finish the rest.

We finally get a full Iron Fist trailer for the Netflix show. As with all the Marvel Netflix shows, the trailer isn't impressive, but I'm sure it'll be a great show:

I think it works well. I prefer these teases to the basically summarize-the-entire-movie style of trailers that everything seems to have these days.

Legion has been getting incredible reviews thus far. I initially had little interest in it, but I'll definitely be recording it now.

Critics were given the first 6 episodes to Marvel's Iron Fist and they slaughtered it:

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/marvel_s_iron_fist/s01

I have watched 11 episodes, and I didn't think it was that bad. Not great, but not horrible. I didn't have any issues with pacing or the characters/actors that the critics did. It certainly is not as good as the Marvel Netflix shows to me, however. Much of that is because it didn't live up to the action expectations. The show was supposed to be a revelation for Marvel in terms of action. I thought, because of what the character is, there would be fight scenes on the level of The Raid movies with some Marvel's sensibilities mixed in. Sad to say the Daredevil seasons do a lot better job at fight choreography and has more believable actors doing the action scenes than this show.

Oh well, still hyped for The Defenders.

I'm an episode and a half in, but I've sort of learned that the Netflix series aren't really action showpieces. I heard it was getting panned pretty bad, but that usually just makes me try to like it a little better.

And I don't think much will compare to The Raid.

I was hoping they'd give it a good shot anyway. After Daredevil, which had fantastic fight scenes, I had high hopes. Perhaps there wasn't enough time to prep or perhaps Finn Jones lacks the natural athletic talent, but there wasn't enough of the jaw-dropping stuff.

Just start trying to watch the series Mutant X. You'll forgive pretty much anything that has come out in the past 10 years. I've tried twice and can't get beyond the first few minutes.

I tried to find a clip on Youtube, and ended up seeing that the entire series is on there, and no one seems to care about the copyright. That alone says volumes

I couldn't get into Mutant X either. Most seemed to have reacted favourably to the first season though. I was surprised to see it renewed for a couple more seasons.

I want to like it for the same campy reasons I like Mortal Kombat, but I can't stay awake. I have Birds of Prey saved too.

Finished Marvel's The Defenders on Netflix. It was ok. The main hero cast was great together. All the heroes played their part well and everyone had such good charisma. Seeing them interact was awesome.

On the opposite end of the spectrum were the villains. Very little I found was interesting about them and their motivations. A shame. Plot was ok. Action was decent. Not the greatest effort from Marvel TV, but it's was good to see the team up/crossover.

Watched Mindhunter on Netflix because I found out David Fincher directed a number of episodes, and also because my interest in Fincher's work increased due to O_taj1242's posting of the Coke commercial.

The show has incredible ratings both from critics and the General Audience. I am less enthusiastic about it, but it is indeed good. It's just the first 5 or 6 episodes are so slow (and there are only 10 episodes). Those episodes spent most of its time explaining things to the viewer like a Sociology class rather than having anything interesting happening, but the redeeming part is the character development/arcs are very strong. Last 3 or 4 episodes are good and make up for the rest.

Marvel's The Punisher has been getting mixed reviews:
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/marvel_s_the_punisher/s01

Don't know why. I just finished the first season and thought it was wonderful. I liked it just a little less than Daredevil season 1 and quite a lot more than the rest of the Marvel shows. Definitely has better pacing than the others, as I liked pretty much all episodes from the Punisher's first season. Makes quite a few statements on War, PTSD, freedom, loyalty and society, as one would expect from a show like this. There are some profound character developments for Frank Castle, and the action was decent - Punisher goes all John Wick in episodes 10 and 11. Highly recommended!

As an aside, it appears Frank Castle prefers Ray-bans. He wears two different models in the last episode.
