**This was an old scratched up unwearable lens used. I could never bring myself to do this to a still usable lens.**

So I finally did it. The first pic is my setup and an example of the ammo I was using. I was firing from less than 10 ft to make sure I got a good hit. The second pic is after one shot, you can see the slight dent at the edge. After two hits there was more denting and a crack also. The third hit caused another dent and the cracked piece flew off and couldn’t be found. I also included a picture of the pistol I was using.

Three shots at close range proved the strength of the lens so I wanted to see what it would take to destroy it. I put the lens on the ground and loaded my 10 round magazine. I emptied all 10 rounds at point blank range (meaning inches so I wouldn't miss) into the lens. I even found eight of the slugs to show them. Only the last five rounds caused any real damage and only after lens integrity was completely shot (pardon the pun). The clean whole through the lens was caused by last shot at a range of approximately ½ inch.

In my opinion this has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt the durability and strength of Oakley lens. I know I’ll never wear anything else.

cool. but those first few shots didn't exactly hit square did they? still good to know they'll deflect a round or two without dying.

Strange as this may sound, I think they actually did hit square and got deflected. After aiming at the center of the lens at point blank range and only seeing damage around the edges my cousin and I think it somehows deflects the shots. It was the only thing we could think of to explain what we were seeing.

nice springfield man, and im amazed that the lens didnt explode getting hit by a .45 wow, im impressed, i figured if a bullet were to hit in the center it would make the lens break in many pieces but it didnt, nice test man should make a section on the site for tests like this
