there is no such thing as a Ruby Quartz lens sold by Oakley. They made a very limited number for the X-Men movies, but they're movie props that you can't really go out and buy. STAY AWAY FROM EBAY AUCTIONS FOR RUBY QUARTZ. They are all knockoffs.

As for the color of the Ruby lenses, it's a batch to batch thing. Some are redder than others. There are some who insist that older lenses are redder, but there are 4 Ruby Juliets at my store (all the newest batch) of various redness.

Thanks for the advice on Ebay, cause I've been looking for awhile. Anyway... I saw a pic and I think it is possible. Not from Oakley of course...

Btw... so what do I look out for when inspecting the glasses?

if they're from ebay, odds are more than likely that they're fake. in the respect that they're not Oakley products. for the frames, make sure they're hefty metal. ebay fakes are usually plastic.

retail, check the screws 2 orbital screws (bottom of lens orbitals) and the 2 arms for being stripped. Torx screws should look like stars. make sure the lenses don't rattle when you shake the frame a little. make sure the flex coupler in the bridge above the nose is evenly "tight". recently, a lot of them have had one side fused so that it doesn't flex. they should bend evenly on both sides.

What is "stripped"?
Where are the torx screws?

Screws are on the hinges and on the outside-bottom of the orbitals where the frame is held together to hold the lens. Stripped screws would have the head part worn away so that a screwdriver wouldn't be able to remove them, since the star-shaped grips no longer provide leverage.

Any way to rectify that problem should it happened? Can we send them out to Oakley and get them fixed?

That is why you should always use a good torx screwdriver. It will prevent the screws from being stripped.

It will usually have to be drilled out, which is a) a pain, and b) pretty much guaranteed to mess up the finish, at least inside the intake ports.

Saw a deal for the Carbon Polarized on Ebay and I am considering it. A couple of questions:

- Seller is using a "USPS Global Priority Mail". How much will it cost if the item location is in moreno valley, CA, United States?

- Will the warranty still be valid if purchasing through ebay?

warrenty, no. As for shipping, only the seller can tell you, since he gets to charge whatever he wants.

No warranty even though the item is new?

Not unless he provides the receipt. Even then, it may have to match the country where you'd send it in for repairs.

I believe Global Priority (US$10.50-20) does not provide tracking # or insurance.. Global Express does provide both but at a higher cost like US$29-35. U have to ask the seller to declare/insure the item for much less if u wanna avoid the customs asking for tax charge..

Decided to go heed someone's advice by "support your local dealer" (read it somewhere). =)

Anyway... is the carbon colour a coating? or is it the colour of the actual metal. So it will not fade off?

It's a coating, but don't worry about it fading off.

It can chip, but I wouldn't worry about that either.

Good choice on supporting your local dealer.

Is this true for the X-metal? Cause my uncle had a Romeo for 10 years (he says) and he told me it had not faded even with rough use.

Sean, as far as I know, the X-Metal finish is pretty robust. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

My Black/X-Metal Romeo looks brand new after ten years of one-again-off-again use. You have little to worry about in terms of frame wearage (word?) with the X-Metals.

1. How long does it take for the Juliet to get 'loose'. I've tried new ones and they were real tight and then some were loose.

2. Those rubber studs you put at the sides. I understand there are two numbers - 15 and 25. Which makes the juliet arms open 'wider'?

I believe 15 opens wider... How long the frame will get loose?? It depends on how frequent u wear it.. If it just stays in glass cabinet, never put on, it'll stay tight forever I guess! =)

When it gets loose, can you tighten it back up with the T6 screwdriver or do you have to send it in to Oakley to get it done?

Send it to Oakley for a 'Tune up' but make sure u leave your old lenses if u wanna get replacement lenses fitted because they aint gonna return the replaced (old) lenses..

Also keep the left arm if it has unique serial # on it that u wanna keep, Oakley might as well change the whole frame if requested?? I've never done it before but that's what people say about it..

How much does it cost to do "Tune up"? and how much does oakley charge to send it back to me after the tune up?
Thanks.
