So heres the thing. I work at an O-Store and we are currently sold out of the Titanium Time Tank. They performed very well with their release. Very pleased. The Leather Tank on the other hand...well lets just say it brings people in with it being in the store window but it just doesnt pop out to people.

Now my question for the O-Reviewers is, do you think that they shouldnt have even bothered making a leather version of the TANK or do you think they still have a chance of glory? I would love to say that they are awesome, which they are, but they arent performing like I would want them to.

ALSO, if you work at an O-Store or a store that gets a hold of these (which I may doubt), how well are they doing there. (Both the Titanium band and leather band). I'm very curious to know. I appreciate it fellas!

For $1200 it should come with both & you can choose yourself

good point. Or make the leather one cheaper. I mean, shouldnt there be a big price diff. between some titanium and leather, and then ALL TITANIUM! Much more than a $200 jump.

Good point Tick! I think if you are going to spend the money just go for it all and forget about the leather.

you can pay well over 2 grand for an Omega with a Rubber/Silicone band.

I understand the price difference between the two versions of the TT though: the materials and assembly for the Ti bracelet are way more costly than for a leather/steel strap.

I don't think I've ever witnessed an Oakley watch being purchased. Obviously there are people out there who buy them up, but I've never seen it. I think the mid-range price slot that Oakley has positioned the TT in is a hard one to be in. Fossil, Wenger, Victorinox, Swatch and the like can sell a cheaper watch than Oakley's least expensive analog model. And people going high-end seem to gravitate to the Swiss classics.

IMHO, I think it defeats the theme: "Time Tank" I mean, with the links, it does resemble tank tracks, does it not? With leather, what, a belt? ("Time Belt")

Really a shame Oakley has yet to ship these to dealers. Just another prime example of how Oakley screws its dealers. They actually make people go to the Oakley stores to buy them instead of giving them to the dealers who need to work for a living.

aren't Oakley watches still made in the US? I know they don't make their own movements, but that doesn't make them a Swiss brand.

I actually like that they're only in the OStores. Maintains the exclusivity, makes it more desirable.

last i checked Neiman Marcus has the Time Tank in their website. and they have it in stock... so that statement about Oakley having it exclusive and screwing it's dealers isn't entirely correct.

anyway, personally i like the watch face on the Titanium banded versions more than the leather, they have the contrasting sub-dials that shows off the intricate details. the leather banded versions have the sub-dials as the same colour as the main watch face.

as for the Leather or Titanium pricepoint, i think $200 seems reasonable... can't really compare the Time Tank with the Judge as the Time Tank's metal band is made of Titanium while the Judge is Stainless Steel.

Got 8, sold 8. And now we're out. And my birthday is on Saturday. Damn it, what was I thinking selling all those Tanks ? Such an idiot !

Placed a huge order for all colors in both Ti and Leather version so we should be getting it fairly soon. It's honestly easier to sell than any other watch. When the right customer's there, you just gotta push uniqueness and exclusivity, and bingo.

Freesh, i believe you when you say uniqueness and exclusivity, it's just the lack of cash!

We got one so far, 'bout 3 weeks ago. The movement is defective, so we transferred in another one to exchange it... and that one's scratched.

I think it should have been a leather cuff like Saddleback.

I'd have to be a big freakin cuff. But Phil has big manly wrists, so it's cool. Not me though.

Bong, it's funny you said that about Neiman Marcus: p.167 of the Analyst Day pdf says something about using THUMP and TT to leverage their way into the NM catalog. Part of that probably means delivering the product on time.

I have tiny wrists. I was afraid Saddleback wouldn't fit and I'd need to buy a ... Leather Jury. I can just see the cuff beinq squared and a litte wider than the face and the Leather band it already has slipping through it as the Saddleback does.

Does anyone on the O-Review have a leather Tank? I've yet to see the fully black faces on those. Could potentially be rather cool with a Titanium Bracelet, IMHO.

I have just checked my bank account and it turns out I've saved just enough money to buy a Time Tank w/ Ti Bracelet. Woo. I don't know whether to be glad that I have no access to an O Store or a credit card or not.
