I had lots of Crosshairs and Warden... now there only the crosshairs left. The Warden VR28 GI lenses was very disappointing, to me they felt and looked like usual VR28 BI's. And the Warden is much more cat-eyed, too girly for me.
I love the Titanium Burnt Copper/VR28 BI Pol, the Chrome/VR28 looks also very nice. Now I just need to get the other TI Crosshair 8).
BTW - sry Josh, I'll post the Crosshair/Crosshair S pics tomorrow, I were at the uni the whole day.
Nah, doesn't take away from the logo at all. Julien, I actually find the Crosshair more feminine and catlike, so it's odd you said that. I like that the Warden is the larger, more round, classic aviator lense shape.
I've got 2 pairs of Crosshairs and a pair of Wardens. TRhe Wardens are by far the clasys retro look. I've got the Gold w/GI too, non-trigger earstems. The streth logo is amazing and its also on the nisebridge. Id highly recommend it. I've gotten way more compliemtns on my Wardens than my crosshairs...anyways, Crosshairs are starting to become more common amongst the normies out there.
James knows a guy that can etch, but thats all I know. Hmmm, maybe if you snagged a pair of them, and then took out the lesnes and sent them into Oakley when they start doing custom etchings, youd be able to. Thats the best I can think of right now.
If you're looking for something retro, the Warden is your best bet. The Xhair doesn't really say "retro" to me, more of a modern take on a classic design.
I like the design of the Xhair more, as it is more unique, but the Warden just fits most people better. Of course, there are a few design cues from the Warden that are better than the Xhair as well (such as the bridge and the "Oakley" engraving on top).
My idea for my next project is to take a Black Chrome/Amber Black Polarized CrossHair and to snap some Ti Iridium Polarized lenses in them...tried it at work and it looks magnificent !
I'd say go for the Ti Ti Polar Xhair, as it's not going to be around much longer. The Warden is slightly smaller, with much worse overall quality. While this was most prevalent in the older pairs, even the trigger version had/has loose lenses. The Xhair, however, is not at all retro. It's all Oakley. The Warden has the classic lines of an Aviator with some Oakley thrown in.
You mean the Warden is bigger, right Brian? And we've had nothing of a quality problem in our area. Whisker has been the worst wire for us quality wise. You were right though, the Warden does have more of a classic retro aviator.
no. warden is smaller than X-hair, but bigger than X-hairS. not the lenses, but the frame overall. Warden is a little taller and rounder, but the X's lenses stretch a bit further out on the edges.
I was worried when I got my Ti Crosshair that it was too big, because it fit wider than the Warden, but it turned out ok. The lens thing has made it's way around the forum.
Actually, I think I might bring the Wardens out today. They've been on the shelf (literally) since I got the Ti.
Sorry, yeah. When I refer to the size of a pair of glasses I almost always mean the area of the lense. The crosshair is wider, but surface area comes nowhere near warden.
i do like both, but for some reason i find the Warden fits me a little better, but still not as good as other Wires out there.
that said, the Warden looks more like the classic Aviator design while the Crosshair has a more straight, hard-edged design, especially in the orbital shape. the orbital shape on the Crosshair S on the other hand, reminds me of a smaller version of the Warden.
C-5 weighs more than Titanium, and it's noticeable when you have two exact same models each made with the two different materials. My X-Metal Chisel 2.0s feels a lot lighter than my C-5 O Wires.
I suppose the reason the Warden weighs more than the Juliet in this case is because Wire nosepads are pretty small, so there's more weight on less surface area. Maybe.
