Am new to Oakley, have bought three pairs in the recent weeks. One Juliet and two XX's.

I read on a website that you could see if an XX is fake if it has "molding-lines" in the frame. A real XX should be totally smooth.

My first, JetBlack, XX is indeed totally smooth. The second one, a CrystalBlack one, isn't. Is this really a sign of being a fake? As I have never seen a CrystalBlack frame before I am a bit puzzled.

Here you see the seams I'm talking about:

http://www.pfeffernuss.com/Storage/Public/Oakley/XX%20Crystal/pages/Oakley%2012.htm

http://www.pfeffernuss.com/Storage/Public/Oakley/XX%20Crystal/pages/Oakley%2017.htm

So could anybody with a "certainly-real" CrystalBlack tell me if their's is the same?

Thanks!

Maybe I missed it, or it's limited, but I don't see a Crystal Black color option on oakley.com. (And aren't the "crystal black" colors traditionally much more see-through? Compare to attached pic.)

Also, your pair looks noticeably less refined than most real Oakley's I've seen. Did you buy them off ebay, or from a real dealer?

This option is also listed here on O-Review though http://www.o-review.com/glassesdetail.asp?ID=376 but the picture is too small to judge anything by it.

I bought them online (as prices in The Netherlands are rather insane), this was my "winning" object:

http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8288590205

(you can even see the lines of this by the seller supplied picture)

The frame doesn't look as refined as the JetBlack one, that's for sure, and that's why I'm asking ;-)

The lenses, however, are very nice, and Polarized. Was wondering if they could also fake them! Apparently they can, if it's a fake Oakley :-(

I wouldn't worry too much, its a real one. Huneymonkey is a reputable seller, I think he's even a member here. He's not selling fakes for sure.
Welcome to the site by the way!

Yeah Pat's right, fully real. They are also one of the coolest XX combos, IMO.

Great news! I find them also very very nice, the contrast between the blue-like frame and the lenses is very nice. Did order some orange earstems, must see how that'll look! Wanted those because the O-logo is orange and the glasses also ofcourse.

Thanks for your support, will sleep better tonight ;-)

I second that. Some frame has seams. My Five 3.0's have one and they're one of the newer models. No worries.

I live in Wassenaar, near The Hague.

Pity these glasses are so nice. I am also bidding on some Carbon/24K's and Polished/Fire Juliets. When will it stop... Never, I guess... I do *not* like the more recent designs though, I hope they will bring out some classics again soon!

Paul, always trust the database here before the limited combos they have on Oakley.com

Welcome to the site PP, if you ever want your crystal frame to show more instead of looking black, put a lens that lets enter more light, like Persimmon, G30 or else.

I like the last picture a lot! =)

Do JOakleys also have 'XX' logo behind the nose bridge?? Cos if they do then that would make it very difficult to judge the authenticity...
Ooo.. Welcome to the site P-P! (^-^)

i have seen fakes with the XX on the back of the nose bridge

it seems that they the fakers nowadays all are wise to using name on the inside of whatever the frame set is (Scar, Minute, Frogskin).

it is still best in my estimation to look at the hinge and the "fit and finish" to tell if it is real or not.

Am I the only one that noticed the finger in the picture posted above?

Hmmm, the picture with "the finger" was a joke for a friend of mine. I didn't think that anybody would take the time to view the other pictures as well ;-)

If it is considered offensive I will remove it right away, ofcourse.

Also have some Juliet and other XX pics (again just to show to some friends who wanted to know what the glasses looked like) at:

Juliet Plasma Ice Polarized: http://www.pfeffernuss.com/Storage/Public/Oakley/Juliet%20Plasma/

XX JetBlack Emerald: http://www.pfeffernuss.com/Storage/Public/Oakley/XX%20Emerald/

Again, I will remove anything considered inappropriate.
