One of the spring hinges on my hatchets is broken. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the black part that sits on top of the spring is missing. I assume it is a spring, I'm not really sure. Well I hope you guys know which part I'm talking about. Anyone of you knows if this is part of the lifetime warranty on the frames? I'm so sad that I broke this pair because this is one of my favourites. Btw, it is a Mercury/Ti Clear Hatchet.

This is what I got after a bottle of tequila and a few beers, with a couple good buddies, all consumed at the stroke of midnite, by the beach.. Awesome (not the hatchet breaking part). = )

Jeff, there's no lifetime warranty on Oakleys! Any defects are covered by warranty for a period of one year. You best contact Oakleys aftersales dept or walk in any Oakley dealer to have them take care of it for you.

the spring has a little black plastic "wedge thing" on it that opperates the spring. the hinge should be covered by warranty.

I've got a case of a broken hinge, but not necessarily the spring.

A while back (maybe 1.5 years ago) I got my buddy a pair of New Square Wires. Yesterday, he calls me up to ask if there's a known defect with the arms. He goes on to tell me that he wore them while driving to work, and like always set them in the console when he got out of his truck. He says that they're under no load of any kind in this console, they simply set there. Then, he was leaving work and picked them up and only one of the earstems was attached. The screw that holds the missing arm was still in place and it wasn't loose, but the arm had fallen off.

I haven't seen the frame, so I'm not 100% sure what happened to them. I told him either the screw was loose or part of the hinge broke. Does anybody have any ideas on what might have happened? Anybody have this happen to a New Square Wire?

Were you having the same type of problem where the hinge parts simply failed? What do you attribute that to?

Makes me sad to hear Nik badmouthing the razrwire. He was its loudest champion for the longest time.

I think Oakley owes Nik something for both his salesmanship and troubles over the year. I'm on it....

This week I took a SI Square Wire that had a spring hinge issue to the HQ customer service room in the lobby. (Six months old) They swapped out the frames. Sweet service!
