Hello all, thought that after many months of lurking in the shadows that I would finally introduce myself but in doing so ask a question. I have been collecting for a few months now (mostly clothes) but have bought a few pair of shades along the way. Here is what I have so far..

I just bought a pair of Fives 2.0 Green Polarized today to add to the list!

Ok, on to the question... I purchased my Juliets back in '98 before MI:2 came out. Paid $260 before the price increased from the movie (have receipt to prove it). I had to send them off to Oakley for repair and to replace the lens as well as do a tune up. Well they sent me a new pair of Juliets! No questions asked, on a 8 y/o pair of glasses. Mine had a serial on it never thought that I would need it so I never wrote it down (Gosh, idiot!! I know) but Oakley sent me a pair with no serial on it. Whats the deal? Is it common? Do the new Juliets not have serials? Ok, thanks for the help and look forward with talking with you all!

Nice stash of stuff. I like it.

And yes new and warranty X-metal's have no serial. Just a sign of the times.

Nik, welcome to the O-Review. What you said is very common; new Juliets usually lack SNs, and warranty replacements almost always lack them. Of course, you can find ones with SNs at stores still. But from Oakley, most of what gets shipped now is new, and is made without SNs.

Check out supplements at the top of the page and serials. There is a lot of good info there.

Welcome to the site Nik, I checked your profile and saw that an Oakley rep reffered you to the site; thats cool !

As for the serial, next time, send a note along, asking them to put back the serial, or keep it with you when you send it.

Still, though, outside of any collectibility of the mentioned x-metal that was sent in ... you just can't beat the fact that Oakley swapped a freakin' old pair of eyewear for a brand new pair (for what I assume was free or a nominal fee).

Oakley warranty service rocks the house. Sure, there will always be stories to the contrary (think about it: by virtue of being warranty service, they are bound to get a wide spectrum of problems sent their way), but I think the overall level of service and dedication to standing behind the product is unmatched.

(outside the warranty period) it usually goes under the tune-up fee, which is $45.

Anybody ever keep an arm to preserve the serial and then find the new orbitals and right arm don't quite match the arm you kept?

They did the tune up for free since I bought lens, Oakley rocks for customer service- other companies should take note about how to do things. Thats why I will continue to buy from them. Just wish that I could get a case so I can store/display some of my stuff.

To everyone thanks for the words I am in awe of some of y'alls collections. I hope that I can get some of the cool things that you have!
