Hello guys, I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on the best way to remove links from a timebomb strap so that I can shorten it to fit...?
Is it just a case of poking out the pins or do I need some sort of special tool?

Hi,i took my TBs to a watch shop and watched while they removed the link, they used a thin pin tool and tapped out the pin in the strap but i expect the tool to be very strong. It cost me £12.50 whch i think was worth it as they didnt mark the strap at all which i would probably have done.
Hope this helps

Cheers mate, yeah, I was debating whether or not to attempt it myself. I've got some precision screwdrives, awls etc but I'm starting to think the shop might just be an easier option!

Yeh its best to take it to a watch shop. For your timebomb don't try to pick the cheapest place as the cheapest I found was for £6.99. This guy worked in a scabby type watch shop and when I asked him he was wearing his blue addidas top and track bottoms whilst wiping his lunch from his mouth.

I went to Debenhams instead where they have a watch repair department were the guy did it for me for £8 and only took 10-15mins.

H Samual in UK do it for £9.99 and independent places are also £10-15. No idea in other countries.

Thanks

Thats a good idea learning to do it yourself. The watch maker idiot scratched my GMT when he was taking the pins out. Some people just have no respect.

Lol, I did it myself too, with a screwdriver and a hammer. Saved myself fifteen bucks!

younger generation, huh? well, it's nice to know i'm still considered young, LOL.

i take mine to local watch dealers and let them handle it. first of all, i would kill myself if i make a slip or a mistake and accidentally scratch the watch. if someone else did it (which has not happened, knock on wood) at least i don't have myself to blame.

If you're a true do-it-yourself person, you could try a tool like the one in the link below. I have used it to size a few of my watch bands. It works really well.

so the O-Store had no problems removing links and sizing the band even though the watch wasn;t bought from there? that's cool... i'm gonna have to try that with my next new watch. all this time i've been spending $10 to get my watches sized.

I think my purchasing history in the store might have helped a little! ;)
