I wish I lived in Europe!

You guys are interested in all the good sports. I played soccer for 15 years on an american national league. I then quit so I could run track in college. I've gotten bored with track and cross-country so I've been thinking about cycling.

The thing is, no one in the US cares about any of these sports and they do in Europe.

I guess I should start lifting lots of weights and join my colleges football team...

Don't like the sport, show them on DSF, Profi Dart World Championship, I always can laugh about them. The same with Poker. But this is one which I watch when nothing else is coming at tv, it's funny.

But those non related sports are upcoming. Look at bowls or Dart, they become more popular.

That was one darn good final!

Next year Lakeside is going to be named "Scheveningen Strand Darts Trofee"...
And "let's play dahhhhhhhhhhrts" will be "laten we pijltjes goooooooien"...

For the next some years we Dutch rule in darts!

I sat and watched it and I must say, what an excellent match it was.
Jelle Klaasen thoroughly deserved to win, what an awesome talent he is.

But before you Dutch lads get all patriotic,He's Still yet to beat 13 time WDC world champion Phil "the power" Taylor......

Is that why the Dutch wear wooden shoes, in case they drop their dart?

No Tick, that is just for when we need to kick ass.

BTW, did you know that wooden shoes are indeed officially aproved safety shoes?

You guys actually sat and watched darts... It would be different if you actually hit something that moved or aiming at a animal... but just watching? Please tell me you were not sober.

Watching a good dart match is a good time. I love pub sports. Nothing compares with snooker though.

guys, no matter what you say to beat it down , we dutch rule the sport !!!!!!!

and YES , of course we sat down and watched the game.

Jelle is the NEW and IMPROVED version of the darter ; no alcohol/sigarettes, just for the sport..

ah well, at least we had our moment of fun and glory

Speaking as someone who lived and frequently played darts in Holland I feel that my contribution would certainly be at home in this thread.

From my experience I would have to say that Jelle and Raymond must have both lived next to a faulty nuclear power plant or something because one of my hobbies whilst in NL was repeatedly kicking Dutch dart playing ass with a fierceness unparalleled since Vlad the Impaler decided he liked the look of human lollipops.
To make matters worse, I am not really that good.

I also went to see Holland play rugby (another sport which is not exactly traditional in Holland) against England. I was supporting Holland, but they still got their clogs handed to them on a plate with a score of 103 to 3 if my memory serves me correctly.

Having said that I wouldn’t like to face up to a Dutch ice skater or footballer (the real kind of football that is)

Anyhoo, aware that this is a darts thread I will shut my face;-)

I think this time next year Barneveld will have joined the PDC so i've heard.
As good as Klassen and Barneveld played this week, they would have both got destroyed by Phil Taylor.
When he beat Peter Manley in the final of the PDC this year, he averaged 106.74, Manley averaged about what Klassen and Barneveld did this week at 91.72 and lost 7-0

When Taylor played the worst he'd probably played for years against Wayne Mardle in the semis of the PDC, he averaged 97.14 (averages from the PDC website) thats still better than every 3 dart average thrown by all the BDO players this week.

Andy Hamilton had just little over a 97+ average against Phil in the third round, and still got stuffed 4-0.

Unquestionably, Phil Taylor is the best darts player ever, and that when Phil's at his best,no-one can beat him (only the misguided would suggest otherwise).

(Sorry Fred and Edwin!)

i know you are right about that, and i really hope that Barneveld will make the transition the the other league , because i don't like him too much. jelle is an up-and comer , so he can have his 5 minutes of fame.

just read in the paper that aproximately 5.000.000 people in the netherlands saw the finale !!

oh yeah OTT , rugby is for people with a serious brain-problem LOL

5 million? thats like a third of the population.

As for brain damage through rugby, how do you think I ended up collecting Oakley? To quote the people at O, my collection is the "product of an unsound mind".
