I'm thinking of gettin the Ruby XX though I'm not sure what frame option to get. Does anyone have both the polished and jet black versions? Is there a significant difference? Also a size comparison will be helpful with say a Splice or even a sqaure wire just so I can get an idea how big it is. Thanx guyz

I'll second this with a bump for the thread. I don't need them, but somehow I keep wandering back over to them. ;)

Polished and Jet black are extremley similar. I'm guessing they're the exact same frame with just a name change. Nice combo you want, it was like my third ever pair of Oakleys. I don't wear them anymore though.

I actually find the fit a little larger than a Splice. Def larger than the Square Wire, and Unknown. Are they selling them as Polished Black now and not Jet? It's pretty much the same color, just a different application of the color. Polished is black all the way through, and Jet is a shiny paint app.

I noticed when updating the database, a lot of the frames that were Jet Black, are now being listed as Polished Black.

maybe because people can't put their finger on "jet", as for "polished" , they know what that is

So we're agreed that jet black = polished black now? I got a little confused since in the DB there's a $5 price differential between the two. I was under the impression they were a bit bigger than the splice as well. I'm pretty much commited to gettin em but could someone maybe do some side by side shots? pweees

The price difference is probably from last January's price hike. I do find they fit bigger than a Splice.

Phil's correct. Anything still labeled as Jet Black in the Database was probably discontinued before the price increase of $5. Those that remained have been updated with the new price and the new frame label based upon the latest spec sheets.

Agree with the fit comments on the XX. I think they fit and appear larger than a Splice. I would liken them more to a New Straight Jacket, just a bit more sleeker/slimmer due to the lens and earstem shape.

Here ya go!
The top one is Jet black XX/Ruby and the bottom is Polished Ducati Monster dog.I just hope its clear enough that you can see any difference.
But for what I notice polished is slightly shinier.

^Yes. Jet Black is a paint finish where as Polished black color is made using a different method from what I was told. If you hold a pair of Polished black sunglasses up to the light you can see a red hue to them.

That's what I thought. The polished somehow has a ritcher look to it. So it's more an improvement on the jet black than just a name change.

Polished is molded in straight black o-matter. I think that's why it's a richer black. Jet was a paint finish. What jet means for black is not that it's polished but that it's black as black can get. It just happened to be polished. But with it bieng a paint finish it was probably clear coated to keep the color.

If you have 10 XXs already, the question is why isn't one of them Ruby?

Actually my reasoning is that being Red/Green color blind I am probably not seeing the Red the same way as everyone else..I can tell street signals apart as well as Emerald vs. Ruby lenses but I have never worn much red
