Obviously the best thing to do is do your best to try both lenses in person. I'm a huge BI Polarized fan and have worn them in a variety of light conditions (bright sunlight to overcast and drizzly) with no problems at all. I tried on the ABI Polarized lens but didn't like them at all. The color seemed very weird to me and I didn't like the effect.

Just my two cents.

It all depends what you want to use them for Sean; tell us that and we'll fill you in. BI Polar is super-dark, though.
Alright. For me it's general usage for things i.e.:
- driving (usually hot and sunny afternoons)
- jogs
- (ocassional) fishing
- jungle hiking
- etc.

I think the black iridium polarized are great. I know a lot of people are not as fond of them, but they are indeed my favorites. The Amber pols are excellent in almost all light conditions in my experience. Many complain about the extreme color shifting that make them "questionable" for driving, but I wear mine driving all the time with no issues at all.

The interesting thing about them is that the polarized filter seems to reduce glare except in the red spectrum. It's hard to explain, but the BI pols reduce ALL glare in front of you. The Amber pols have a hint of reddish coloration to any glare they eliminate. Am I making sense? Does anyone else notice that?

i think a safe option would be to go with Black Iridium Polarized because I will be using it for many different things, especially driving in the afternoons and at the beach (more frequent than the rare fishing occasion).

I've already got a pair of Rubies with 14% light transmission so I guess I dun need Amber Black with 15% lt.transmission.

Just my reasoning. Correct me if I'm wrong...

I like the black iridium polarized as well. They are a great 'do everything lens'. The bronze polarized are really good as well. This lens provides more contrast than the black iridium for me. I really want to try the amber black iridium polarized lens next!

My top suggestion would be Ti Iridium Polarized. But if you aren't ready to go with the Ti, then the Black Iridium Polarized would be a fine sub.

All the thanks go to Rick for cleaning it up to avator standards and sending it to me! He's not just about swiping up all the x-metals in town.

(Sneaky Smile). I just called my dealer and I will be getting a black half jacket with XLJ Ti Pols.

The Amber pols have better eye coverage than ice iridium polarized, but not quite as good as straight up black iridium polarized.
Huh? Ice and Black Iridium are the same base.

Are amber BI polarized even available for HJ? I just checked on oakley.com and couldn't find them anywhere. Anyone know? Do I need to just call them?

Oh sorry, I meant as accessory lenses--not as a complete frameset.

Neil,
Trust me the black iridium without a doubt hide your eyes better than ice iridium. I think it has more to do with the coloration of the iridium than with the base tint.

Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about the transmission.
