Are the Ruby Clear Unknown's still for sale over there, or are those long gone.

I have a feeling I could track a couple down. Shall I check and see? I've also see a few Rootbeer/Gold Clears on Yahoo! Japan.

What do those Ruby Clear Unknowns go for in US$?

Either one, to be honest, I just want the lens for my Splice project. If you see a pair, can you PM me with whatever the USD cost would be, and I'll let you know. Thanks.

I'll email Nobuyuki-san at HQ and see if they still have any. I'll get back to you with the price. I think I should probably pick one up too. I also have my eye on a few Yahoo! auctions but they usually have pretty high starting prices. Here's an auction with some nice pics of the Gold Clear:

Fair enough. I may be able to put the the Ice from the Splice back into the Unknown. That would be pretty slick.

I wish I could tell you Dann, but I still haven't figured out a way to "watch" the interesting auctions so I didn't follow it. Sorry. It was cool though wasn't it?

This article has been souped up to match the style of the Zero Article. Feel free to grab it in the articles section or directly here:

wow... great stuff! i love how professional looking these articles are, these pieces can be easily added into the ongoing coffeetable book project, right?

i guess i'm being stubborn with the Wire project EC and i (well... mostly EC since he did most of the writing) are working on, i'm trying my best to do some page layouts but so far it's nowhere as nice as this Grip and the Zero article, but it's something i want to try myself.

I made a template with that splat logo in the corner. If you make some screen mockups, I can do the finishing touches.

I just got to look at it and I love it. I saw the coffe table book thread resurface recently, but I really think we should wait until we have more than a few articles done up in this manner and plan it around these. And end of the year compendium of sorts that we can still ittle with profilesm pics and stories. I even have digital printers we can work with for a decent price per issue.

It's going to be a long long time before we can have something like the coffee table book. Could be years really, but in the mean time, we can pile up nice looking articles like this and worst case have a digital book that can be distributed on CD. Plus maybe if we have a finished product, we can approach Oakley and see what they think. I'm sure a completed book will draw more favor than just an idea from some internet people.

the corner splat graphic i got okay (sorry Phil, i'm stealing some of your work!), it's just something i wanted the article to look, umm... consistant.

it's the layout design and spicing things up that i have trouble with... it's still in the early stages right now, EC and i are still writing the text for the article, but once the real layouts happen i'll probably need to crits and comments.

i know the Coffeetable Book is going to take a while to complete, but i think it's such a great idea i would love to see it through. labour of love!
