Now that makes me wonder why I really can't remember them having those arms. I am sure we had them in stock at SGH at onepoint while I was there.

Most of the people I've seen wearing long sock wires have turned the sock (forced it, really) so that the hammer points down, vaguely emulating the old Trigger arms. Anyone else notice this? It drives me crazy when I see it.

Customers used to come into SGH with the socks turned down or in so the hammer was pointing at their temple. I would swing back out right while making adjustments and they would trun it back while leaving the store.

heh... thanks for fixing the earsocks Phil. it really annoys me too when i see people wear them like regular glasses. too bad they trun it back. oh well...

i've once seen someone wear a pair of Oakleys with the earstems bent so it wraps around the back of the ear slightly, like regular glasses. that was amusing.

I have seen 2 sets of Fire Polarized lenses. One which was very yellowish and almost looked like 24k with "polarized" etched on the outside of the lens.
The second (newer i think) is a very dark orange and doesn't have polarized on the outside, but you can see it etched on the inside of the lens.

my Fire Polarized lenses on my Square Wire 2.0 Spring Hinge has the "Polarized" emblem etched on the inside. the color is a deep orange and the mirror coating is highly reflective.

it's like there's several versions of the Ruby Iridium, although i don't know which one is the newest version. the Rubies on my E Wire 2.1 is a deeper red than the Rubies on my A Wire 2.0 Spring Hinge, but it's a lot less reflective. i think there was also a version of Rubies that were almost orange in color.

I was looking at some glasses on Ruben's Menswear, and I think I figured out the discrepency over the Unobtanium and Icons on the Dartboard. As has been said previously, some frames have the Unobtanium bits on the stems, and some don't. Looking at all the pics on the site, it seems that the ones with the script logo, the women's ones, don't have the Unobtanium (for hair pulling and such). The ones with the regular Icon have the rubber.

Let's turn our attention toward cases now.

Small Soft Vault
- Gen 1 was called the Ballistic Case. It was kinda squishy and had a plain metal tab on the zipper.
- Gen 2 (current) is much more rigid and has the plastic overmolded O zipper pull.

Medium Soft Vault
- Gen 1 had a silver Icon
- Gen 2 (current) has a gunmetal Icon

OO Soft Vault
- Gen 1 had a metal loop zipper pull (did it also have a black metal icon?)
- Gen 2 (current) has the plastic O zipper pull and a grey plastic icon

Large Half Soft Vault/X-Metal Soft Vault
- Did these have black metal icons when first released?
- Both currently have grey plastic icons

Half Jacket Soft Vault
- Gen 1 had an embossed O like the Small/Large Soft Vaults
- Gen 2 had a different insert. The foam and felt had a texture slightly different from the original... actually doesn't fit as nicely as the Gen 1. Also, the Arrays come with a sponge insert to keep the lenses/glasses from falling out of the slots in the foam.
- Gen 3 (just got one yesterday) has a gunmetal icon like the medium soft vault and metal vaults

Even the packaging has changed over the years. All cases used to come in carboard boxes. Now, all the soft vaults just come with a yellow cardboard tag. They may be sealed in a clear plastic bag depending on where they are purchased.

I am not aware of any changes to the Vaults.

I don't know if this is generational, but the M Frame Ballistic Vault (metal zipper pull) was very quickly (coupla months) replaced by the current M Frame Array Case.
The former:
Just a ballistic shell
The latter:
Ballistic shell, Foam insert for Frame+Lens and 2 spare lenses.

Yeah, E C - I wasn't sure if I'd call that generational either. The "M-Frame Soft Vault" had a unique SKU. It was basically the same shell as the Gen 1/2 Half Jacket Soft Vault... I got one as a gift that had a foam/felt insert that held one pair of M-Frames, one extra lens, and one extra nosepiece. I ended up exchanging it for a Half Jacket Soft Vault since I didn't have M-Frames at the time. I think the current "M-Frame Array Case" is a definite improvement, although it is quite a large case.

Just in case anyone other than me cares, all of the Half Wire pictures on Oakley.com have been updated with the clear (Gen 3) nosepads. The pictures had previously been a mix of Gen 1/2/3 depending on when the particular color was added.

I found out this weekend that all the non-X-Metal Soft Vaults now have the plastic gunmetal icons rather than the embossed O. Not sure if that goes for the Large Half and OO Soft Vaults, since they already had the grey plastic O's.

I just found out through purchasing, that there are indeed generations in Riddles. On the new newer gen, the frame is wider overall and taller in the center, and the lens is rounded like a normal lens instead of having a beveled lip around it. I intended to replace the white frame I had with a new one, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Even when the items haven't changed, the boxes can sometimes have generations. Just picked these up, and the Sept 1999 version is labeled as the New Zero, and has the solid Icon with ThinStretch logo. The April 2000 Revision B box removes the 'New' from the title and has the Shaded Icon.
