Just a bit of info for you all,

O-luminium is a beast of a metal, 25% lighter than Titanium, (i know hatchets seem heavy but think of how much metal is there) while still 95% the strength.

Also do you guys pronounce it weird like you do with Aluminium? O-luminium/O-luminum....? Meh..

I pronounce it -NUM, since it's a play on words.

Picture for reference as promised:

Not a bad pair of glasses, if I may say so myself.

Hey - pretty swank. Subtle without being boring.

There's been some pros and cons on the Hatchet and O-Luminum in general, but I think it holds a lot of promise.

Whereas the Mag Frames seemed chunky (albeit cool), and the X-Metal has been somewhat restricted in its aesthetics (i.e. the same basic nose bridge and stems), it looks like O-Luminum could be shaped with the same freedom that O-Matter is. That means metal frames with the complexity and diversity in form of the Racing Jacket and Splice, provided consumers get behind it. Agree? Disagree?

Also unmentioned - dare we hope to see O-Luminum watches in the future?

I'm really surprised that O-Luminum has a better strength to weight ratio than X-metal. Knowing that, I'm all for more O-Luminum glasses, as long as they make them a little bolder in style as the Hatchet is far to subdued for my tastes.

I'm all for the O-luminum series as long as they make ones that fit my face ^_^ I'm hoping that like the X-metals they released the largest one first and the rest will be more tuned for medium- small faces, since the Hatchet is way too big for me.

Seems possible with the low melting temperature of Aluminum. I got aluminum into a feathery cotton-candy state once with an arc welder. Probably not the smartest thing to do since the rod was meant for steel, but I wanted to see what would happen. Not sure where the metal went either as it took a big chunk out of the beam and none ended up on the floor.

Say, Dann, that's a mighty fine pair of Hatchets you got there.

I was wearing my Splice today and I realised they look somewhat like a fatter version of the hatchet - so I figured - Dann since you own both - are they similiar in shape and size?

Not really. The Splice fits flush all around my face like an arc. The Hatchet sits on my nose and there's a small amount of space between my temples. The angles are similar I guess, but for comparison, Switches were more like Splices shape-wise than Hatchets. Closest thing to a hatchet honestly would be a heavier wire.

The Hatchet looks nicer now that I can see it on Oakleys site. If I get to try one I will, and if it's nice, I'll see who I can get to buy it for me for Christmas.

I highly recommend. The price point is a little high for a non-X-metal, but still a very solid pair.

I second Dann's recommendation. Hatchets are a good, solid pair of glasses.
