something weird has happened to my WHY3s.
ive been wearing them for hours each day for years now and recentley they have been getting loose where the lens attaches to the nose bridge, i now have to tighten them every couple of weeks.
i dont get why it is suddenly happening now.
anyone else notice this?

they are RX with prescription light blue oakley lenses.
so i dont think oakley could change anything anyway.
they cost me a fookin fortune so im gonna have to live with the regular tightning.

Lex, I have prescription Why 3's, I don't wear them that often, but I have had to tighten them up now and again.

Maybe your perspiration had worn at the rubber grommets under the screws. Maybe they need to be replaced??

I know I mentioned this in another thread, if you have a big head and you stretch them, even slightly, to get them on they'll loosen at one point where you need to keep tightening them. It's kinda just a style flaw.

Lex, was it originally a plano or RX frame? They're identical (in the case of the Why 3) apart from the fact that one ships with lenses, of course, but it will affect how likely they are to switch the frame for you.

Echoing someone else's point, if the rubber washers under each lens screw wear down the lens notch will never fit securely against the frame, at least until the washers are replaced. Call O and get them to send you four new ones, and replace them and go from there.

they were a special order from Oakley so i dunno how they came.
they are the black RX WHY3 with the red unobtanium and i had my prescription made into light blue oakley lenses, the have the tiny O on the left lens.

i think the washer thing is a good idea so i will give oakley a call first thing monday.
thanks guys

An extremley small dab a Locktite may stop them moving.

I had the same problem with my Why 3. I will try that Loctite trick. Thank you Mike for the Tip!

Lex - it's not a glue. It's like wax, it just helps keep screws and nuts firm on threads, small or large. It won't leave any residue and you'll still be able to remove the screws at anytime.

It's thread lock. It may have an adverse effect on polycarbonate over time; it isn't designed for use with plastics because you can use self-tapping screws instead.

The Why3's are just inherently flawed in the design. We used to get calls from people complaining about their Why3's constantly getting loose. Oakley eventually fixed the problem when they introduced a different type of mounting design on the why8.1 which allows the screw to tap directly into the lens itself and does not require a nut.
