I passed by a climbing gear shop a couple of weeks back and noticed they stock O so I went in for a quick look. The display was very poor and I was just about to leave when I noticed an M Frame lens which looked like it was covered in dirt. When I took a closer look I saw that it was pock marked with about 20-30 dents. I didnt get a chance to speak to any of the salesmen but it looked like they had completely buggered it with an air rifle.

I will be heading back there at some stage and will do a bit of investigation to see what exactly happened.

Yeah they have that in my dealer too. I always assumed it was just some funky display item. Not sure on the lens tint, it's so distressed - could be Persimmon.

I've seen a couple of these in various dealers, I think it's a shotgun blast of some sort, but I'm sure someone here will know exactly what was used (my gun knowledge is fairly limited!)

yep its a shotgun, they have those at quite a few oakley dealers to show the protection that you get when wearing M-frames.

so at least your eyes will be ok so that you can see where your jawbone is on the floor somewhere...

Hahaha. I guess they hope you won't think about that.

It's a G30 lens.

They fire a 10-gauge at it from 10 feet away.

My dealer as well, i am sure they just use blemished lenses and take them out to a range...good way to get rid of some extra aggression though i would imagine.

they are displays to show that Oakley actually meets ANSI z87.1 standards the lense can take a 1/4 inch steel ball bearing at 102 mph. that is the minimum standard for the ANSI. They use a 12 gauge @ 10 feet away most of the time. I have also seen lenses that have been shot with a .22

The lenses coating doesn't really matter. I've owned a +Red Sweep that was blasted in the past, and it still had a few pieces of shot embedded in the lens. It's just whatever they take out to the range and divy up to the OPDs.

As the text in the above ad states they "blasted them with a 12 gauge shotgun from 15 yards away."
