Over Easter,I made this Oakley picture frame.
First of all, we have a regular Ikea 5" by 7" wooden picture frame;

Then,I bought a pack of regular Domehead brass tacks;

Then,I just gently tapped in the tacks to the frame;

I put some wood filler in the joins of the frame(looks a real mess)

Then lightly rubbed down the frame,and applyed 2 coats of silver spray paint;

Put in a custom image,and there you have it.
What do you think?

Nice work, Lee! A low-cost alternative to the "official" aluminum stuff. Good call using the dome-head tacks. You could make all sorts of faux-riveted-aluminum stuff out of wood with those. I think you're onto something here...

Lee! nice one, I had the same idea as I wanted a frame to make a mirror out of for my loft, I actually won one on ebay a while back, but the guy couldnt ship it from the us to the uk, don't know why, said it was over the dimensions or something :(, so i got a refund!!

I want to make a leather sofa like the ones pictured in the ostores and on the old site headers, so i figured big peices of four by two with coach bolts driven in, and some big speaker bass ducts cut into the side, a bit of mdf and a few cans of paint and that'll be that...

Glad to see you beat me to it!!

Very cool lee,
you should do another one but next time put tons more tacks in and place them randomly that will look amazing.

Very cool mate! You're making me think a few more for things I can be doing to go with my shelves for some of my Oakley postcards and the like.
