Does anyone know why the Clifden is called the “Clifden”? Over the past couple years we found out why the Sutro is named such, but I haven’t heard the official reason for “Clifden”.

I’ve casually wondered that as well. Clifden is a place in Ireland, but doesn’t strike me as a very rugged mountain alpine place. What was Sutro named for ?

It’s named after Mount Sutro in San Fran. With all the hustle and bustle of traffic for cyclists in the city, biking on Mount Sutro is a relief and protection for riders. The Sutro sunglasses give riders that same level of protection and comfort. Will Conk explains it in this video at 2:50:

Decided to reach out to Will directly for the background story (thanks, Will!). His exact words:

Clifden is also a town in the south island of New Zealand (close to Invercargill). We chose it because it is very near where our team did field testing of the frame, they actually tested in Wanaka (during our summer). Getting legal buy in of our product names is really challenging and very limiting, but this one passed and felt suitable for the frame and it's intent.
