I didn't think the gloves were Oakley based on the pic Zendaya's posted, but I'm super happy that I'm wrong! Good to see Oakley in a blockbluster, especially one led by the directorial genius of Denis Villeneuve. I know absolutely nothing about Dune, its world or its characters, but looking forward to seeing both movies.

I watched the 1984 Dune movie to get a sense of who the characters are and the story around them before watching Villeneuve’s version later this year. I didn’t dislike it like most seem to, but the story’s not exactly the most accessible material ever. Will look forward to how they can keep it fresh. Surely it'll be a better look at its world with it's longer running time across two movies instead of one.

Watching the movie really ignites memories of Oakley. ‘80s/‘90s sci fi industrial design are the lifeblood of the Oakley era most of us fell in love with, so it was good to revisit some of the elements that inspired Oakley, even if the movie was not a complete or direct influence.

I may have to watch the 1984 Dune version as well. I can not remember if I've seen it. Makes me think it may not have made much of an impression on me if I don't recall if I actually watched it or not.

I feel that. I was watching 12 Monkeys and The Fifth Element recently, and I kept thinking "I've seen this before". Obviously I've previously watched both of them, but they didn't make an impression on me like you said.

I have tried to watch it several times and fell asleep ever time. Only movie I think I have ever done that in.
