http://www.oakley.com/products/oakley-metal-works-large-carabiner/99294-206

Do they realize how stupid it looks to real climbers to release a "fashion" caribiner for $100 that doesn't even work? Compare to http://www.rei.com/search?query=carabiners where you can actually trust your life to these.

You want a company with a radical and extreme image? Make stuff that actually works. I wish they would stop cutting the quality corners while making their stuff so expensive at the same time. Thanks for reading my rant :)

I hear you. Personally, I do like the design direction they went with it. Everyone wants the 'old' Oakley back, and this in a small way could be a glimmer of hope, but like most of the cool stuff these days, it's priced way out of reach.

I agree. It seems like it would be a cool gadget to collect and add to the stuff like industrial looking water bottles I have from them, but $100 AND probably unusable... I don't think so.

Also, I'd really like to see someone pull off their new laptop bag not looking like a huge dork. I wish they had a slimmer bag that was in better taste.

I don't think its designed to be used more for looks and as dann said to bring back Oakley of old.

What's really funny about the MW carabiner is it's a keychain without a keychain loop for keys! Still can't figure why it got up to $100 (maybe they machined the knurling details), but the MW Switch Blade is cool and closer to the $100 asking price.

It's not just a keychain but a bottle opener as well

Yeah, I have one... it's really nice... I do agree it should have been made climbing tested just for the overkill factor... but I still love it. I made a keyring for it out of Military Grade paracord I got when I was at a military base with a friend of mine. It's great. The bottle opening fuction is pretty nice as well... I wear like a medium size glove(for size reference) and I can pretty much just fit all four fingers in the hole and just man handle a bottlecap... now I'm just looking to bust caps all day long.. lol i feel like terry crews ripping like a dolls head off or something lol... although certainly i am asked all the time is it rated for climing... and yeah then the price... I still love it though...

I love the metalworks collection though... i also have the moneyclip

I dont know why but I picked up all 3 metal works just now! I dont play golf, or have a stash of cash to put in money clip (not any more), AND if I wanted to climb, I cant use the carabineer! At least I can open a beer so its not all bad!
They'll look cool in display case though! Lol!
The hard part will be explaining to my wife! Its been nice knowing y'all!

@Dann, it would be cool to have a metal works achievement badge, for bragging rights of course! Who knows how long they will be available. Hence, I bought 5 money clips for a rainy day, ill keep 1 though lol!
