I thought we already had a thread like this, but wasn;t able to find it. So I might have been wrong...
In that case a general eyewear news thread might be quite nice to have I guess.

So lets start it off with two news items that I thought might be intersting.

Essilor purchased transitions (it already have a 49% share in it, but is now owned by Essilor). Might be interesting to know as Oakley also works with them. Though I don't think this will cause any implications for the O.

Also Ray-Ban is now starting a custom program. Unfortunately, if you ask me. The Oakley custom program was quite unique and awesome. It seems like Lux thought the same, the way it works seems quite a lot like it works at the O too. You can see it a remix.ray-ban.com. (yes guys, I am really sorry to bring R-B news, not the nicest thing to read actually, I have considered keeping it out...).

If you have any more cool eyewear news, just share it here ;)

I'm sorry to say that, but I love their mirror blue and mirror green lens.
I've recently seen some in Paris street, and despite their exovista-like shiny color, I still like them.
Not that I'll buy some, though.

Talking about mirrored lens, it seems Parasite Eyewear also introduced some mirrored lens too in nice colors.

I've been talking with a rep of Parasite Eyewear as I wanted to know which matter their frame are made of. It thought it was titanium, but they are simply stainless steel :-/
Big deception for frame in that price range.
But I still may go for one pair someday.

We'll see how the relationship will work between Essilor and Lux now that they've got Transitions. Very interesting.

That's the problem with Parasite. Awesomely cool aesthetics but feels very cheap. I've got a few and I think they're awesome on the face, but they are flimsy.

How much are they in France? I would expect them to be cheaper since it's home territory. They're stupid expensive here. In the $450+ range for just the frame. Not many dealers around who have good stock. If I want something in particular, I'd have to order from a dealer in Montreal.

A quick search returns on some french websites 219 euros for the Parasite Vitamine with Yellow led lenses.

Better : 209 euros for the Parasite Vermine with polarized lenses, lowered to 150 euros with a reduction code.
Heh, that one might be for me. Temptation, temptation ...

Pretty steep for what it is if that's the average price range in France, but better than in Canada anyway. Was looking at once of the Scions as Rx a while ago but wasn't worth it at MSRP levels. Very unique stuff, at any rate.

Something else that I heard recently. Nothing has been confirmed, but rumors are that Lux has acquired Tag Heuer...

Another step towards world domination for Lux I guess.

Ray-Ban is to release an 18K gold aviator at the humble price of only 2800 euros. Just bizarre, that price is simply something you cannot justify especially for something as low end as a R-B aviator.

I don't know for sure if it is massive gold, but I assume it is just plated.

Interesting. RB did release a solid 14k gold Aviator in the late '80s when they were owned by B&L for about $4k (or was it $6k?). I'm assuming the new Lux version isn't solid gold since it's only 2,800 Euro, but I'm interested in hearing the details when they become available.

The belgium brand Theo eyewear has a line caller Hoet Couture, the just released a titanium 3d printed pair of spectacles. Quite interesting I think so :)

Yeah, the hinges are quite cool I think. Most likely possible to make them like this due to the 3D printing.
To be honest, the Cabrio collection is not the best to look at I think. But they do a great job in innovation and changing the eyewear industry :)

That's the hinge I was hoping the Eye Jacket 2.0 would have had, back in the day.

Yeah, that would have fit the EJ 2.0 very well indeed.

Ah, solid gold. I am surprised by that actually. But still it is R*B*, the aviators just feel flimsy, I am surprised if this gold version will feel better.

Ok, not really eyewear news, but still something eyewear related I want to share with you ;-)

Some might already know my webshop www.cult89.nl where I do all things Oakley related. But as opportunities came up, I have been able to expand and launch a new website:
www.juleye.nl. Here I sell many brands, and I am slowly filling up the store with many more brands. In the future Cult89 will get the same styling as juleye, but will stay separate as a lifestyle brand store.

Suggestions are welcome of course, as well as likes on the Facebook page :P

Since Parasite was mentioned earlier, they have added a new crazy ass pair a few months ago. Joining the ranks of the Overpross and Ray is the Pross Immortal:

They are quite crazy man!
I really like them, I have never seen some parasites in the wild though.

It would take a bit of nerve to wear those in public. Perhaps a steam punk masquerade party would be better.

Yeah, their showcase limited pairs are pretty out there, even for Oakley wearers. I have a few of their pairs and I wouldn't wear them out anymore; they're shelf glasses nowadays.
