The whole pair started as 24k gold...I decided too much gold for me, so I went and lost my damn mind lol. The black has a flat clear applied to it while the colored surfaces have a gloss clear...I wanted textural differences in this one and was wondering how it would turn out...My biggest issue was making it seamless without some buildup on a tape line, so I tried something a bit different.
came out pretty good I think. The blend of the 2 clears has a bit of banding a the right stem, but not much I could do to avoid other than the hard tape line...now to figure out what damn lens to put in em. Emerald, or black?? My gold polar is too dark of a gold...24k would be sick, but no donor other than OCP Taco...
don't want to draw away attention from the real focus, the frame...the emerald are semi dull and less flashy as a fire or ruby, but black may just be the sensible choice
I was already thinking something along those lines, but rather than a BMW, more a German Black/Red/Yellow theme...I can do the BMW though, just need to get a good source image to get the colors right...
well, when it's something that they have the equipment to utilize, that's one thing. But for a lil guy like me, that $20k paint matching system and probably another $30k in material inventory isn't all that feasible lol. Besides, House Of Kolor paints are all custom job paints, and the other would be a production line type paint. I can probably go to the local auto paint store and have them mix me some up with the oem/factory color codes pretty easily, but then they would be selling me pints at the minimum, and pushing quarts. If you have the factory paint codes, I can call and see. There is one place I can drive to that is about 45 minutes or so away that says they will do any size mixes...I could get 4oz of each color needed and that would last me 2 years probably...
The Glasurit numbers are a paint product, so your local DuPont or similar supplier should be able to provide from those numbers - but I ghet what you mean about volume.
Even when we sprayed my race car with officially rated flourescent safety paint I bought extra just so i could colour match later and that was over £200 per half litre and I think I got 6 litres in the end.
When we used HoK the biggest issue was the number of base and colour options available in the different systems, the full book is massive, if you have it Im sure you know.
Oh I know. I have virtually every color of Shimrin 1 line (maybe 20 or so I don't have), but now there is Shimrin 2, and that is a whole different beast. The combos with that are literally unlimited. You mix everything with your own preference with toners, effects packs, and so on. I have yet to dive into that end of the pool. Hard enough with all I have now. And I added 4 more colors yesterday...
