The 05 is a great sunglass wire option for a more subdued, professional look. Not quite the sporty look of many of the wire frames. But the colorways are excellent, particularly the VR50 Emerald since it's a rare commodity to find in any frame. The 05 has a very flat base curve, and a pretty narrow fit. I love that the earstems flare out a bit at the tips, much like the Crosshairs do.

I called Oakley in 2000/2001 and had asked "will the 05 Rx ever be released as Sunglasses?" The answer I got was "No." Simple and enough to make me pony up and buy the frame for an Rx. Now five years later I find my self in posession of 3 of these finely sculpted frames as I had once hoped, as sunglasses.

Whether to rid themselves of backstock Rx frames or finally realizing how nice a piece they had to keep just Rx I am glad it finally saw the light. From the thickened retro orbital to the faux flex coupler seat/OO stlye tordepo protrusion at the hinge all the way down to the classic x-metalesque Icon sculpted into the frame at the stems end, this is a piece of art.

The fit compares to most basic wires and the thin stems have a curve that provides just the right amount of flex without the loose spring hinge feel of other styles. The flat lens and thicker orbital add just a bit of class to the frame, but can end up looking tiny on wider heads.

One of the few Oakley frames that one can call elegant. The o5's had tiny little orbitals attached to thin, but secure, arms. They may look small on some bigger heads, but the eye coverage is rathe good considering size. The frame itself has some weight, but nothing that's overwhelming.

Love the flat thicker look of the frame with the flat lens, just about anyone could pull these off. I agree with oogie about the professional look, I would definitely wear these around my clients.

Even though they aren't spring hinged they fit like a half wire. Can't wait to get our hands on more of these. The VR50 was a great starting point!
