I only recently had the privilege of experiencing the +Red via a fortuitous vault store pickup of the Dark Grey Split Jacket. Now that I hold a pair on my hand I can concur with many other reviews and comments about the +Red Iridium. The overall aesthetics of the Iridium hue are captivating. As if it is made of a blue bottom layer with a red layer on top, the hues shift from red to blue and then to purple and back again, all in a single motion. It was quite hypnotic for the first day or so.

This lens is, of course built on the grey Plutonite lens so it is a "sun" lens and can be worn in even bright light. The polarization gives the lenses and extra layer of protection and another excuse to wear them out anytime. The effect on vision is quite neutral and no noticeable difference between these and the Grey Polarized. Looking from the outside, the wearers eyes are slightly visible in all but direct bright light as with most polarized lenses. This does not at all take away from their wearability or impressiveness, however. I believe the wearers eyes will be the last thing to be noticed if wearing a pair of these.

I have never seen +Red Iridium Polarized in person as it is not widely available on many frames; just the non-polarized set. And while I certainly find the regular +Red Iridium to be impressive, I am very glad I was able to get the Polarized version. Truly an incredible lens and definitely a must-have should the opportunity present itself.

It wouldn't let me comment on regular +Red, so here it goes:

I had some on Crystal Black Frogskins in the late 90s. Loved them. Wore them out. They were vivid red from the outside. Unfortunately those glasses broke over a decade ago. I don't care what Oakley says,they've changed these lenses. Today's +Reds should be changed to "Plum" or something. They sure aren't red. Not terrible or anything, just not RED.

This is one of the strangest lens options that Oakley makes. At first glance you would think that these would be really dark and interesting to look through, but they aren't dark at all and are probably the most neutrally tinted lenses that Oakley produces. When you put these on it is almost like you turn a sunny day into a cloudy one. The colors and contrast do not change at all. For bike riding this is probably a good thing, but this is not a fishing lens at all.

So many for so long revered +Red as one of Oakley's greatest lens options. After many years Oakley eventually included +Red in many of their OCP lineups... but this wasn't enough. Finally, after years of anticipation, Oakley has upped the ante with Polarized +Red. The hue features both beauty and function, with the traditional dark red and purple hues and glare-cutting ability. The elusive Polarized +Red Juliets will remain at the all-time top of my favorite list!

love the WOW factor. seems almost purple sometimes. looks really good, and looking through them is great. more light transmission than ice or black iridium, but what a great lens.

Grey base seems to work just about perfect in bright weather. I have tried and compared plain Grey, Light Grey, Emerald Iridium, Ruby Iridium and this baby. It seems to mix sun protection with just enough light transmission in the best possible way. Black Iridium and Ice Iridium gives more sun protection but less energy and inspiration, too.

Great lens on a bright day. I have the polarized version (Path) for my Pearl White Radar. Love the look from the outside. White frame with red orangey lens looks very hot and striking :-) The look from inside is cool greyish blue feel. This is a great lens for a bright and sunny day. The cool view from inside makes you feel cooler psychologically under a hot and scorching day.

This one is VERY good in clear weather. More focused than the non-polarized version. I have that in an M-Frame Hybrid and the new polarized in a Radar. The view from inside is the grey base with a little more blueish and just enough shade from sunlight.
From the outside it looks really good. Black/red/gold in a tasteful, mystic combination. Got mine in a white frame but changed to a chrystal black with red rubber parts.
