i like the Why 8.1 lens shape more than the 8.0, it's the way the lenses taper back torwards the earstems, which itself are nicely sculpted. the rimless design itself look very upscale and dressy. the build quality didn't seem as tight and solid as Why 3 though, they creak everytime i put them on and take them off.
the Black Chrome/Ice combo looks great, just enough attitude to offset the dressy look, but the pair i bought had mismatching lenses... one side was bluer than the other. bad quality control on Oakley's part.
i returned the Black Chrome/Ice, but the store didn't have another pair, so i settled for the Brown/VR28 Black Iridium combo. the lenses look great, and have a great tint, but the overall combo is very conservative. i liked the fact that the Black Chrome/Ice has a great compromise of looks and attitude, something the Brown/VR28 Black is sorely missing.

Very, very cool glasses. I was suspicious of rimless lenses but on trying them on the glasses look very cool, and are a nice move away from more traditional Oakley styles. I particularly like the detail on the arms, though I think the nose bridge design could possibly be improved slightly.

Was deciding between these and the Dartboards. Bought the Dartboards, but they always stuck in my mind. so took the plunge. I really like the dressy feel, and use them a more formal or neat casual affairs. Always like the black iridium as for me it works really well in the west Australian Sunlight - Worth the Bucks

This is a pair of glasses that is very striking visually, but I am still scared of them. Rimless Oakleys seems to be asking for it, but all of the new wire styles are too narrow.
That said, I still bought them because they are a classy style. Initially I was irritated by seeing the bridge in the corner of my vision, but that went away after wearing them for about an hour. They are quite light and comfortable.
Note that these will likely require a case, and none of my other Oakley cases fit them (the Vault, small zipper case). This is because of the hinge construction: these have a similar hinge as the Juliets--the glasses are about 0.75 inches wider when you fold them up. So I got another case, which was a bit irritating.
Re: Black Chrome/Ice Iridium
I've always wanted a pair of Oakley's because of their quality, and proven durability. But since I was spending good money on a pair, I wanted one that I could use in all occasions, many of the styles are pretty sporty. The Wire series does the trick, and this new WHY 8.1 line happens to look sporty and classy at the same time. Also they seem to fit my very wide head fairly well which is great because many of the other Wires (and nonWire models) are just too narrow. I did choose the Ice Iridium lens for some Bling factor, but the satiny dark chrome and conservative shape allow me to wear these glasses without feeling out of place even with coworkers, family in more serious settings.

I picked the 8.1 as opposed to the other Whys because of the shape of the lenses. It best fits my face, and therefor, my style also. At my school all of the kids are wearing big plastic sunglasses, most of them with with no logos (so I can only assume they were purchased at Walgreens or something). I make sure to wear somewhat dark semi-formal clothes with these, and I couldn't be happier to stand out like this.
I kind of wish these came with unobtanium nosebombs rather than the default material that most wire sunglasses have, but I'll live without them. I actually like the nose bridges curvature and have found no problems with it. Infact, if I were to disregard the lens shape, if it weren't for the unique nosebridge of the Why 8 series, I probably would've gone with a square wire.
Since the Whys have left such a good impression on me, I think I can see more Oakley wires coming to me in the future. After I acquire the Romeo II (still saving up for that), it'll probably be the Whisker that I seek out next.

like almost every one else on there i think that this combo is the sexiest one they look great with mearly everything i wear thats why i got the Why 4 in the same color way only with polerized rx lenses. pretty much the only difference between the 2 is the curved more sweeping design of the 8.1 vs. the straght flat 4
excellent pair super fit even tho i have a larger head

I was surprised how much I like these after I put them on. They offer great eye coverage and are extremely lightweight. The design of the earstems is sweet. My only dislike is the rimless lens but thats the whole point of the design.

I really like the way the 8.1 lenses are shaped but for whatever reason, they don't seem as comfortable as the other two Whys, despite having only subtle differences in the shape of the lens. Your milage my vary.

I've had these for a while. They're my "backups". I was a little disappointed with these. The screws the nosepiece screws loosen over time, which loosens the fit. Tightening the screws every once and a while works but it s hassel. Also, the earstems seemed really long. The look great, but not my favorite Oakleys.

I wore regular glasses for about 20 years, then finally got lasik done a couple months ago and needed a new pair of sunglasses. I tried on all brands of sunglasses but never found the right one. When I tried these Why 8.1, it fit perfect. I bought them in a heartbeat. I liked them so much I went back and got 2 other pairs in Light/black iridium.

I bought these mail order, and I don't think I could have had any better luck in person. The lenses are almost exactly the same shape as my eye sockets, so they fit amazingly closely. I can't slide a finger behind the lenses when they're in place. There's almost no light entry from the sides, though there is a little leakage from above. I suppose the lenses could have been a couple of millimeters taller. The unobtainium grips the sides of my head well without causing discomfort. These things aren't going to fall off. I'm seriously thinking about picking up a pair in bronze polarized just so I have another pair for varying conditions. They seem quite durable too. I know the wrong load will kink or snap the plutonium, but I don't don't see that happening.

My first pair of Oakley shades!!! I've been trying almost everything they had, but none fit my face that well... either that or it just looked funny on me.
I was so set on getting either an A-wire or Whisker... leaning towards the Whisker since it was wider... but it didn't look that great on my face. I saw the 8.1 and it looked good... never considered a frameless pair since I wasn't too fond of the design, but out of sheer luck, it was the perfect one for me!!! :)
