i almost had a panic attack... glad that was a false alarm. i love the crosshair.

oakley.com is kind of, uh, poorly organized in certain areas right now. i've come across several other "missing" things since the new design debuted.

that article makes me want to see a print of soundgarden's "superunknown" album cover on a big piece of o-matter!

i'm not into most of the OCE styles either. i'm only into certain frames... the only ones i really dig in OCE are the crosshair and spike. they need to get some more frames into that program, namely oil drum, eye patch, warden, square wire, and big square wire.

ah, i see. thanks for clearing that up, joe. apparently there was even more confusion amongst o-store employees than i thought.

and collier, i must have glossed over this (major) detail before in the original post, but i just realized that the salesperson talked you into buying the custom gift kit to go with a stock pair of glasses. that seems a little shady on the salesperson's part.

the whole custom gift kit / free etching certificate thing seems a little awkward. different stores, employees, and customers are being told completely different things.

you might be able to call it in, but i think you'll need to go back to the store. the way it's supposed to work is, the glasses are not supposed to leave the store. they are supposed to be shipped out for etching FROM the store. that way, you can't damage them and then blame the damage on the company.

apparently a lot of o-store employees are not being trained properly in this process. when i bought my custom crosshairs and the custom case kit, they told me i could take it all home and think about what i wanted etched on the lens, and bring it back when i was ready. but it's not supposed to work that way. fortunately they still let me redeem my certificate and they sent my glasses out for me.

hopefully, since they technically made the mistake, they will still let you redeem yours too. i imagine this same scenario is taking place at lots of o-stores and i would think they would be just as flexible about it as my local store was.

while it sucks to see the strechline disappear, this stuff is really growing on me. i like it a lot!

if you like the stuff, wear it. why torture yourself by just staring at it?

i just want to chime in my agreement that MINUTE MACHINE is a very unflattering name for this watch. MACHINE is a good word for it, but MINUTE makes me think of a small increment of time. it's not a strong word. it evokes no powerful imagery and it detracts from the word MACHINE. maybe they intended to emphasize the accuracy of the timepiece, but in that case they'd need to go with a smaller increment than a minute.

it also screams of a lack of creativity. MINUTE instead of TIME, MACHINE instead of TANK.

of course, as has been pointed out, the name doesn't take away from the watch itself. but i'm still glad i have the TIME TANK version. if someone asked me what my watch was called, i wouldn't want to say it's a "minute machine". ugh, say it out loud. too many syllables, makes it sound corny. TIME TANK. while that name may have been a little overly macho, it was solid like the watch, and it sounded cool to say. rolled right off the tongue.

while i'm sure oakley doesn't want to change the name yet again, i kinda hope they do.

there are a lot of other good words floating around here that could be part of a better and more appropriate name than minute machine... tread, track, engine, gear, beast... go with something that emphasizes the size, the style, the durability, the construction. we already know it counts minutes.

good eye, jason. i didn't notice the change. if you try it out, let me know if the Q fits. i have one too and i'll buy that case immediately if i know it fits. i don't think my local O store carries them.

wearer all the way. i have a very small collection compared to many of you hardcore collectors, but i also have way more sunglasses than the average person. i just love to wear sunglasses -- even at night -- and the only brand i buy is oakley. i tend to go for the "lifestyle," non-sporty styles. i don't see myself ever coming close to even a hundred pairs because i am very selective about what i buy. i guess i can see myself one day having a very small display-only collection though.

same goes for oakley apparel, shoes, watches... i don't buy to collect, i buy to wear. on a daily basis, i'm decked out in almost 100% oakley from head to toe. so it's an obsession, just a different type of obsession from the avid collector.

well she has a grapevine as well, and the speechless is considerably lighter while being about the same size.

my gf and i just bought a couple pairs from total_o... polished white frame oil drums with ice lens and blue icons. i don't have any close-up pics yet, just the one in the PW thread which isn't the greatest shot of them. however, this pair is SICK.

we also got the speechless he was selling... the one that i believe was an exclusive for female o-store managers? no pics yet, sorry... but i have mixed feelings about this pair. they look great all around, but the plastic is very... lightweight. i wouldn't say cheap, and i wouldn't quite say flimsy, but not what i expected of a brand new o-matter model. i need to compare this pair with that of the manager at my local store. i'm not saying i think they're fakes, just... different for oakley, if they are the real deal. has anyone else encountered the speechless yet that can comment on this? is oakley going for a more lightweight frame for women? at any rate, we're keeping them because they look awesome.

hahaha... yeah you busted me, but i'm not ashamed! those glasses are a goof (obviously)... i threw them on for my birthday celebration at the club. they got a lot of laughs and that's what matters. can't get laughs with oakleys!

keep diggin' through that site and you're bound to find plenty more pictures of my drunken antics in oakley apparel. i like vodka a little too much :P

i received my time tank yesterday too!

i also recently got my first pair of OCEs, a white/g30 crosshair with my name etched. sorry, i didn't clean them for this pic :-/

i have several other new things i need to photograph and put up here (most notably my x-metal/black iridium polarized romeo 2s), but i don't have a camera and i rarely remember to borrow my girlfriend's.

got a couple of cool total_o buys on the way too!!! it's been a good couple of months for my little collection.

the new stuff is awesome. i think they've finally gotten a bit more "daring" with the men's clothing. the rancho cucamonga store has everything from a whole rack of bright blue threads to a rack of military-inspired stuff. there is also a VERY nice black track jacket that i realized i couldn't live without as soon as i saw it.

LOTS of new hats too. i was a little overwhelmed when i visited the store. i'm going to have to calm down and go back this week.
