I have been an Oakley goggle user since 1999 and have never wanted to wear anything else in the snow. I always thought the sunglasses are overpriced until I walked into the rolling o-lab when it made a stop @ a golf expo in Sacramento, I then learned about x-metals and their discontinuation and desirability, and am now completely hooked. I now have A TON of Oakley glasses among other products.

send to the x-man! http://thexmancustoms.com/ he does excellent work for the community of collectors for several years and can also refinish the frame if necessary. I have sent him probably a dozen frames by now.

grfmotorsports, i think it's just an impression. Possibly of something that helped dry the ink or hold the bags down to anchor them down.

I guess it depends on the price. the lenses and rubbers are hard enough to come by but I prefer at least the actual glasses. serialized frame, correct lenses and rubbers complete is a huge plus but not necessary. I would only consider a clone for around $300.

Funny how you guys revived this thread that the OP actually is one of the best OEM custom lens cutters I know of. shout-out to oakleyonthespot! she is based out of the UAE? i think but is a premier resource for non-CONUS lens cuts (she sells in the us too on ebay)

I share your sentiment Dann, I have been treated well by my collector "niche" where I find that they would offer a more reasonable price to me as they know it's going to a collector who shares the same passion as they do as opposed to someone who would not value the item as much. As far as for new collectors, Observe, observe, observe. Join in to as many resources as you can, (facebook, forums, etc) and camp out for pieces that you want, I personally over paid for a lot of items but also came across steals. how do you determine it's a steal? my 2cents, i see what they have sold for in the past, establish an average. for example: Romeo 1 selling $300-$600 over 3 months. so average at $450. if you find a top end romeo (mint, complete with matching serial box, freebies etc.) it should be priced above average and closer to $600. if you get it for $450 or less, that would be a steal. If you really want it, $600 would be fair, since you are not only applying an economic value to your scale but also quenching a personal need that in itself is priceless.

sweet write-up, thanks! just to add my experience, tb stealth ticks weird, ticks twice in succession every two seconds then stops. did the swap and it is back as new. Just to help out someone who comes across my same situation, while removing the capacitor plate that is spring loaded i had pressed down on one of the two screws too hard and discovered that when I tried to re-install the screw that was near the wound up copper, the hole it went into was stripped! i thought i had swapped the screws but they are the same, I had to cannibalize an old watch that i hadn't planned on buying batteries for anymore and after taking out 9 screws, i found one of the same size, just a bit longer and was able to hold the plate in place. in hindsight, I would have eased both screws off little by little as to not use the cap. plate to pry the screw out of its thread.
