I've had a few Oakleys for a couple of decades now, but I never really considered it a collection - I have collections of other things, but the sunglasses just seemed like something I had a few of.

Started off, as perhaps many did, on Frogskins in the early to mid-90s. Still had my favourite pair around until recently, crystal black with +red iridium, sitting conveniently in the knee glovebox in the car. So conveniently, in fact, that I'd sometimes forget they were there. Like when trading the car in for a new example for instance :( Someone somewhere is driving around with near mint Frogs in the car and they probably don't realise either...

After the Frogs, I was quite taken with the... New Frogskins. Ok, the name sounds the same but they don't really have much in common and it's not a model you hear much about. Two of mine have suffered from cracked frames for years. Maybe it's the sign that it IS a collection that I could never make myself throw them out, even though they weren't wearable...

So, with two cracked pairs, and the matte clear showing signs of going the same way, I decided to check out what was happening in the Oakley world about 15(!) years after buying my last pair. I thought I'd go Frog again, but they didn't seem quite right any more. Besides, it would be a little unfaithful to the pair travelling around in my old car! But I wanted something in the same vein, and Holbrooks hit the mark pretty exactly.

I like "vertical" collecting (single manufacturer, single model) so had decided to focus on the Holbrook, but then my first pair of Juliets to scratch a long-standing itch came in. And were just so perfect in terms of look and fit, that that is where I have stuck for now. Just about to hit another milestone in terms of Juliet collecting, but that's for another day...

If you're in a constant high sun area, then G30 might not be much use, but here in the UK it comes in pretty handy. Big fan, I have a couple of Juliets with it in.

anyone have a picture of "Mark UK collector"? I bought a display from a guy named mark that robbed me of the drawer handle. I wondered if it is the same guy. - O

No, it's not me. Never sold anyone a display, with or without handle.

That Maritime is pretty! Doesn't look like either the Shallow or Deep H2Os (albeit that shallow has green iridium too).

Wow, I think that last photo speaks for itself. Hadn't heard of the Sporting Prizm yet aside from Mark's earlier comment. Something I need to check out. - Dann

I think because it's in Tombstone only and with a very limited application and no real world usability outside that, it's not been promoted very much, if at all. None of that stops me wanting to get one and just go out and look at orange things!!

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the Sporting Clay is one of the most effective Prizm lenses there, like Golf.

The carbon/blue one is the latest:

The new Prizm Sporting Clay looks interesting, similar purple base to the old G26 but without the pretty iridium. In a Tombstone so far.

Not sure on that, the base looks much closer to Shallow than Deep H20.The iridium on my shallows is a purer green than jade, without the purple elements of the latter, but it is a custom cut so possible that those were removed with the cut.

Thanks for the quick change Chloe!

And thanks for the compliment Dann.

"Mike UK collector" should have been "Mark UK collector" and he is on here now, albeit only from earlier this evening!

Not the Mark that won the London event though, but another Mark who was also there :)
