I have a polished white/black Jawbreaker frame I'd like to trade for the all black frame. Anyone?

Ok, I'm confused - I just got a pair of Radarlocks with the OO Red Polarized. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed in this lens. I expected the red to near purple transition that you see with the + Red lens.....in the electronic pictures of this lens, it looks like the red to purple fade I expected....but when I received them, they're much more reddish yellow with a near complete fade to yellow at the corners. Is this normal for the OO Red Polarized lens?

Looking for the Polished black with OO Blue Polarized Split Jacket.

I have numerous items for trade: Gold Radar, Infrared Radar (either with VR28 Black Path lens), Livestrong Flak Jacket, and possible a silver/team blue Jawbone.

Hit me up if you can help out....

Ahh - so there is hope for my "Team Belgium" frames after all! :)

This may have been covered somewhere here recently, but I haven't seen reference to it - is there a reason why so many frame/lens options have disappeared from the custom program?

I was looking at a custom Radar today, and there are only like 5 frame options now, and even less lenses (path, specifically). You used to be able to build nearly anything you wanted with all of the colors that were out there. Any idea why that might be? Same thing goes for the Jawbones. I wanted to build a custom to match a new race bike that I just got, but options that were there before are not any longer.

Anyone know?

Two Radars for sale...

Fabian Cancellara limited edition Atomic Orange with Fire Iridium path lens. The prices on eBay are ridiculous - I just want to get back what I paid. $225. A couple of minor hairline scratches on the lens - nothing noticeable unless you look very closely. Not at all noticeable through the field of vision.

Infrared Radar with VR28 Black Iridium path lens. No flaws at all. $120. (I can only add one photo apparently....get in touch and I'll send you a picture of this one if you want).

I only check here about once a day - email ecrandell@gmail.com for quicker response.

Prices include shipping in the lower 48. We can discuss anywhere else.

Cyclocross race this past weekend - I forgot to bring a pair to wear during the race and was forced to wear my Echelon Radars that I had brought to wear AFTER I raced, while I hung around the venue, etc. Got smacked in the face with a pine branch on my first lap. A couple of hairline scratches are now visible on the previously PERFECT lenses. Still sick about that.

I really want to use the green ones (that are now fairly damaged) to match up to my cycling team kit. The problem, is that the green ones are much harder to come by being that they don't sell them separately. So if I do happen to find another pair, I want to make sure I can interchange them the best way possible without damage.

Any other ideas (other than buying black)? :)

What's everyone's method for removing Jawbone earsocks without damaging them? I know a lot of you have the BMX Jawbone, and I simply have a lot of Jawbones. :) I like to mix and match between jaws, lenses, and of course earsocks. The problem, is that they are SUPER fragile. They stretch way too easily and they always tear in little notches at first, and then beyond use, really.

I've tried running them under water while removing, using hand lotion to put them back on, etc and they still "die" in no more than one or two changes.

Anyone have any other good tips to get these things to keep looking good, stretch and tear free?

That's not VR50 Ruby is it?! Looks just like the Echelon lens. If so, whoa Nelly!

I don't know - but upon further review/wear, I'm calling this model a fail...at least for me. They're basically a more expensive, less comfortable Flak Jacket with switchlock. I wore them on the bike today (kind of the market they were after with the idea along with triathlon and other "multi" sport athletes), and they're certainly not best suited for a road cyclist. The frame WAY impedes your view at the top, and the ear stems are even tighter over your helmet straps. That, and they "bounced" on the bridge of my nose when out of the saddle - definitely not a problem I have with Radars or Jawbones. To be honest, I only really like this pair for the G30 Polarized lenses. Not a good reason to hang on to them. Oh well, kind of why I bought them at SGH - 90 day return policy. I guess they can't all be winners....

Anyone else notice the Fast Jacket to be tight as far as the ear stems are concerned? I don't have a large head either - a lot of S/M hats are too big on me. :)

I can only imagine how you guys with the larger melons are feeling wearing these for any extended period? Do I have a one-off that's to tight or something?

I have the clear to black as well - apples to oranges. The photochromic properties have nothing to do with the ghosting. I think it has to do with how the Ruby coating is applied.

I keep hearing "July" as to when more might be available. I wouldn't expect a super wide, SGH release kind of thing, but if you are into the cycling/outdoor scene, I think most of the major retailers are supposed to get these and the Echelon Jawbones. I would expect them to stay somewhat limited, but I think with the TdF starting today, you'll see them pushed out soon enough.

Finally scored the Echelon Radars and went straight out on my afternoon training ride. They are beautiful to look at - much like the original Ruby was, but even better. They have a bit of a translucent look, but seem to get deeper red the brighter it gets. But man, this lens ghosts more than any other I have ever tried. I had red dots and blurs all over the place during my ride today - much more noticeable earlier in my ride when the sun was brightest. The photochromic properties seemed to work quite well - I didn't notice any eye strain even at the brightest point of my ride. Looking through them is quite similar to the standard ruby with that very pleasing, blueish hue that Ruby produces. It was actually more blue at the top of the field of vision, and a bit more "natural" towards the middle of the lens. Kind of odd, but not all that noticeable after a few minutes. Other than that, the carbon frame with this lens is very striking....certainly unique. Glad I only paid retail however - if I had dropped the 400+ the most folks seems to be commanding on the bay, I might have been a little underwhelmed. Anyway, I'll certainly get use out of them...but if the ghosting issue bothers you, I'd definitely attempt to try this lens before buying!

I've been searching eBay and haven't been able to find any of the storage cases (save for a couple that people think they're getting $275+ for). If anyone has one of these that they aren't using, please let me know!

I was thinking about doing something along those lines...but I would have to make it more "professional" looking :) I'm a bit obsessive that way, and would have an issue with a bunch of lenses laying around loosely (like I do now). One thing I would be interested in, is some kind of case though - it keeps dust, etc. off of the lenses when they aren't being worn. So, jeweler's case of some sort. I'll keep looking....

I am a big sports-specific model user/collector and still have yet to come up with a good idea for all of my spare lenses. I wear most all of my Flaks, Radars, and Jawbones and probably have 4 times as many lenses as I do frames....and I switch them in and out almost daily based on what I want to wear at any given time.

The problem, is that I have lenses laying all over the place - loosely sitting in cases, on top of my cube, etc.

What do you guys use? Maybe a jeweler's case of some sort? Something designed for multiple watches? Any help would be greatly appreciated - I need ideas on how to protect these things when I'm not using them!

So we're assuming that the Fast XL is going to provide similar coverage as the Radar? I might have to jump if so....

May 8, 2011 4:52 PM
So we're looking at the same size lens as the older Flak XLJ lens? I still have a couple of those, and they're still a little to small for on the bike. If the Fast XL lens is bigger than the older XLJ lens then I might consider. Can you clarify? Thanks!

Has anyone had a chance to see the Fast Jackets (XL) in person? I'm very tempted to pre-order a pair, but if they're essentially the same size as the Flak Jackets, I'm going to pass for now.

I'm looking to try them for cycling, but Flak Jackets aren't big enough for me on the bike...too much wind getting around the lenses, minimal lens coverage, etc.

If the XL Fast Jackets are bigger than the Flak XLJ, then I might consider it. Anyone know? Seen them in person?

Simple - I want a matte black Jawbone. I have these two Gascans for trade. EDIT - both for $140 Polished black with ice lenses/blue icons and matte black with ruby lenses (not early generation, but they definitely look it. Very red with purple edges.....not orang'ish like many of the newer versions). They're both in "sat-in-my-desktop-cube-unworn" condition Can anyone help? You can also email me for faster response....ecrandell@gmail.com.
