I have a pair of Whiskers that seem a little odd. I bought them in August, 2005, from Pedersons Skate and Snow in Orem, Utah, an authorized Oakley dealer. The box that they came in said "W Wire". They have "Whisker" printed in very small lettering on the inside of the earstem. The colorway is Pewter/Black Iridium Polarized. The part that stumps me is that the lens shape is slightly different than the "current" Whiskers. They are slightly thicker in the X axis from the front of the lens, and slightly narrower in the Y axis. The only reason I ever even noticed this was I was looking at what I thought was a "new" pair of wires at Sunglass Hut, but were actually Whiskers. The difference is noticeable. The Penny and the Juliet look similar, but are entirely different shapes, and that's how these are, a Juliet to a Penny. I know that mine are authentic, but was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. WTF?

While I'm not sure, Oakley has changed it's shapes slightly on a few designs. Most recently they changed up the Crosshair.

Hey David - what has changed with/on the Crosshairs?

I have three pairs of Whiskers purchased several years apart, and the lens shapes are identical. Was the new pair you saw at Sunglass Hut a Square Whisker? One way to check for sure is to find the SKU the next time you see it and look it up here or on o.com.

Oh, wait...did you happen to see the new SQUARE WHISKER at Sunglass Hut?

As for the Crosshairs, I really can't remember exactly what changed, but it had to do with the frames. There was a discussion a few months back.

If I remember correctly, they changed it a bit because the lens would pop out too easy and be hard to put back in ?

You mean the Crosshairs? That sounds about right!

No, they weren't the Square Whisker, and yes, the lens popped out very easily, within a week of me buying them...
