Hi,

A buddy of mine needs a bit of help. He has had his prescription Oakley Mars for almost six years now, and just recently lost a part that holds one of the lenses in. He talked to Oakley, and they have no parts for the Mars, because they are long discontinued.

The part he need is about 1/8" across, and shaped like the letter "C." It fits around a small post by the lens, at the bottom of the frame.

Does anyone know where he can obtain another one?

Thanks
Oak

eBay is the quickest and most hassle free way, even though it may not be the cheapest. There always seems to be some on there.

get a carbon steel or spring steel washer and notch that small section out. a lockwasher should be a good fitment for that size and widely available...

Wow, thanks for the quick response.

Ebay was surprisingly helpful! Ifynanceu, thanks for the helpful hint. Might become useful in the future. :)

Take care~

I'm with you Josh. Get them as cheap as you can. I bought a whole bag of them at home depot for about about $1. They worked just fine.

those clips in that auction appear to be clipped washers too. the one on the left has a pointed cut to it and the OEM don't at all, and they have an odd texture, but that could be nothing. also, the only pair I have also have a much wider opening vs. the narrow one.

I'm sure in the future, we'll be splitting hairs over pairs with original parts, hehe. But yeah the washers work just fine and probably better than the originals. I've had two break while swapping lenses, and two break just sitting on the shelf.
