Has anybody tried putting one of the new 3G iphones into the Oakley iphone case? The new model is about 5mm thicker than the old one but same height and width, so I'm wondering if the new model will fit in the Oakley case. Any ideas anybody?

i was told the new 3g iphone does not fit the oakley iphone case, it was designed for the old iphone. Im assuming since the 3g is smaller it wont be a very good fit.

Size wise the 3G works, the face is almost identical on both phones so everything looks fine, nothing weird. The only hang up is since they re-designed the buttons on the top and side they are not as easy to use. The volume and silence buttons on the side are ok since it has a cut out for those but the top button to turn the screen on & off is damn near impossible to use, it works but its not pretty.

As a side note I had a hell of a time getting the top button to work with even the original iPhone, the molded button on the case is just too thick for me.

Thanks Paul.

So is it worth me getting an Oakley iphone case to go with the iphone I'll be buying when the things are finally released here later this month? I must confess that I have no idea what the top button on an iphone actually does or why it does that.

The iPod Touch is a bit thinner than the iPhone so it may move around a bit in the case.

It will fit in the case, but all the buttons on the outside of the iPod will be useless. In order to use the power button you will have to take the ipod out of the case.

Works great with my iphone 3g. But the bad part is that it collects dust easily.

The top button just turns the screen on & off and also works as the power button. If you have auto shut off enabled for your screen then you will most likely not need it, but if you turn off the auto shut off feature for the screen than there is not a way to turn off the screen without that button, its kinda like a quick shut off if you dont want the screen activated once you are done using it (checking time/texts/ect.)

I like the look of the case and would recommend it to customers of both gen.'s of the iPhone but would point out the top button usability (I actually point that out to all potential users). I would have one except the case is a bit big to slide in and out of my pocket without much fuss, so I just go without a case.

This is great info. I have been going back and forth between the IP2 and the new BBerry Bold. They keep pushing the Bold back. A cool O case would be enough to make me choose the I... sad really...

Actually Nik, I'm looking for an excuse to buy the iPhone case. So far I have no reason to buy one especially since it sounds like it won't work for the Touch. I'm a little bummed at the fact that I'm not going to be able to justify buying one.

^ You could just buy an iphone, then you'd have an excuse for buying the Oakley case for it.

I've just bought myself a case on ebay, so now I have to get myself an iphone 3G!
