I'm looking for a pair of mountaineering/glacier glasses that are really dark with leather side flaps. You know the kind. Just wondering if anyone here has tried any. Is Julbo a good brand? See them around a lot. Are there any I should avoid? I do a lot of high altitude activities in the winter here in the mountains. The sun reflects off the snow like crazy and the black polar is just not cutting it. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or experience with "glacier glasses". Thanks.

Do you want them for the style or for the function? I not exactly well informed about the latest in mountineering sunglasses, but Julbo makes very good, quality products. I have Cebe one and it works well on expecially sunny/high glare winter days.

As for just for fashion/style, I've always liked Chrome Hearts' pseudo mountineering sunglasses.

Edit: I see you edited your post.

Mainly just want them for the function. I will use them for snowshoeing, backcountry and cross-country skiing. I could care less what they look like. I just want them to block about 95% of the light, like some of the julbos do.

Try some Monster Dogs with the unreleased Double Black iridium lenses. Mine block out a lot more light than regular black iridium.
