Hello All, Can anyone confirm what my Oakley Dealer told me recently: that Oakley has decided to discontinue the Pro M and M Frame model. He said that Oakley wants to push sales of the Radar even more moving forward, so the Pro and M frames are going bye-bye.... he isn't able to order them any longer so inventory is shrinking. The Pro M (with Hybrid S or Sweep lens) is tied with the Monster Dog as my all time favorite models from Oakley.

Note, I'm a new member here and recently posted part of my collection. I've been collecting Oakley since 1985 with the Factory Pilot (made famous by Greg Lemond during his famous Tour De France cycling years) and the Pro M frame is a work of art in my opinion. Please check out my pix in my collection if you get the chance.

I've enjoyed this site over the last couple years, and excited to now be a member, Thanks to all who have made it such a robust and informative place to surf !

I believe it is true. In that case, the longest running pair without generational changes has now come to an end. Such a shame.

Nice collection. FYI, lenses without frames should be filed under 'Lenses' rather than a glasses model.

I cannot believe that Oakley is phasing out the Pro & M Frames.... in favor of the Radar... Thanks for the photo category clarification, I just updated my pix and will be adding more shortly.

The M Frame is still around, just not the Pro. This is according to the latest product sheets.

By far...and I mean BY FAR the best sportsglasses around! Shame!

I actually thought the Pro was, to put it so eloquently, a piece of junk. It should have been discontinued when the current M-Frame was released seeing they're the same frame, well minus hinges and all. But, I don't think the M itself will go anywhere. They just may pull back on available colorways or keep it OCE.

I loved the M for years and years, but I'm happy to send it off. Radar rules. The styling is more aggressive, the nosepiece stays in place, the hydro coating is awesome, and the fit is fantastic. Let's just offer more frame and lens colors for the Radar, I say :-)

Seeing as the M-Frame and Pro M-Frame are among the ugliest glasses in history, I can't say I'm too heartbroken to see them gone.

well they certainly cannot be that bad, (directly) from Oakley's website:

"Athletes have won more championships and medals with the M Frame® than with any other single sport product on earth."

M Frames were the first Oakleys that really got me interested in the brand... IMO the Radar is far too bulky in comparison, and the lens options are woefully inadequate (both styles and colors available)... Not to mention the fact that the lenses themselves are quite large, and there are no lens options geared toward smaller faces. The only ones that really fit me are the Path...

Is the Path lens much larger than the Hybrid S?

For their designed use, there will never be an equal to Pro M.

M Frame and Pro M are not even close to the same species when fit and function are the driving force. I have been racing in Pro M since 1997 (my first pair was yellow with "Chrome 30" lenses, the Sports Marketing predecessor to Slate before it was called Slate), and nothing even comes close.

All of my custom M Frames, though rare and fun to have, gather dust while Radar, Racing Jacket, and Pro M are put to use everyday.

I have used the Pro M's on a daily basis for cycling/racing and outdoor use. The challenge/problem with the Radars (for me) is that the middle nose piece on the Radar can block some field of vision; and the Pro M does not block anything. The overall feel of the Radar just doesn't have the minimalistic-feel of the one-piece molded Pro M frame... just my $.02 cents.
