Sorry if this has been covered before.

I see a lot of threads asking about lens and frame care, but I'm interested in how you guys and gals keep your microbags clean and ready to clean?

Most of my O stuff is stored in a closet and the bags dont see much cleaning duty, but the frames I wear on a regular basis, RX gascans and chisels are cleaned daily and the bags and microfiber cloths I use are getting pretty greasy.

Do you just run everything through the washing machine? hand wash? tell me your secrets :)

some dishwashing soap may help. Some put them through the washing machine, but I wouldn't trust the lint.

I run mine through the washer on handwsh cycle with half the normal soap by themselves and dry them WITHOUT a fabric softener sheet...The key to them is NO FABRIC SOFTENER at all...Never any problems that way so far.

Funny you asked this question cause my bags are getting dirty too. Thanks for the info.

A little off topic, but does anybody else agree that the red stretchline bags suck for getting the lenses clean and clear?

your o store or vault should be able to give you few too if yours gets too dingy.

I was at HQ and the employee there gave about 20 of them at one time.

That's because 20 of them probably cost as much to produce as 1 of the old, good bags.

I knew Oakley had went with the more rough microbags at some point but I think its been said they went back to the older ones ?

I dont know if someone could confirm ?

This may be irrelevant but....since Sam didn't bother saying where he is from....

I have found such an over abundance of O bags available at O stores (and Vaults) to not imagine ever having to worry about that....

And if you are using just one pair enough to have to clean them that much - it should be worth your time to invest in more Microbags....

It's not like I run out of sheepskin for my new truck after 30 days and turn to terry-cloth.... If you are gonna buy and wear the best - use the best to care for it - go the extra mile.....who takes their Murciealago to Jiffy Lube????

U go Nick. Yeah! What he said! lol I actually use the bigger bags which are the goggles bags for cleaning in that way I got more surface to use compared to the little peewees. I hand wash mine with dishwashing soap every 2 weeks and just hang to dry.I actually use themlike gloves when Im handling my glasses if not in use to avoid fingerprints while they sit there

I'm from the SF bay area, so I'm close to a good number of vaults, as well as my local OPD.

Normally I use an essilor lens cloth which is much nicer than the Oakley bags, but its getting greasy too which is why I asked about cleaning.

I suppose I should just go bug my OPD for a bunch of essilor cloths since I spent well over a grand there in a single day, but I do want to keep my bags looking nice and usable for cleaning as well.

Thanks again for all the comments!

along these same lines what is safe to use to clean the lenses. i know im not the only one that thinks it is a hug pain in the butt to clean a ruby lens streak free. i have only found that mild dial pump soap and air dry is the only way to get a smear free ruby
