Hey guys, can you tell from this picture if these are definitely generation 1 ruby. They dont look very purple to me.

What he says about the pictures of Ruby with/without flash is true. I'd say they're genuine, even though the generation thing is really a myth.

Outta Singapore, eh? From Eakaz too...looks like the gray-skulls are working together.

I have a feeling you will be happy with those - I wouldn't exactly say you got them for a deal, but I've seen lesser pairs sell for way more. I think you'll dig them.

What do you mean rick? I thought that rubies generally go for around $500. Is it because they are used or are there batches that are even more purple?

Don't be mean, Dr.
That's still $100 less than retail for the re-issues...

I think it is because they are used and do not have the original with matching serial mumber. I still think that is a fair price.

Every auction says first gen now, especially from our ex-'friend' eakaz. Wait until you get them and see for yourself in the light. Pictures are tricky.

Dann is on spot with that one...Oakley lenses can be tricky to photograph, and depending on many factors like white balance, back lighting, filtered flash, etc...they can appear to be different colors.

Be careful. Picasa2 with the color saturation option can do wonders.

Eakaz has nice stuff, but careful of potential embellishments.

I just read some old threads about this seller and the private bidding. I wish I would have read this sooner and I might not of bid. However it seems from some of the posts he delivers good stuff. It looks like there is a ding on the nose piece.

It seems like a decent pair of Rubies and you paid a decent price. Had you paid $800 there would be cause for concern, but as it is, paying $320 for a boxless Ruby J with a serial number is a decent buy regardless of lens tone. Have you received them yet?

no they were sent off yesterday. It should take about 2 weeks.

I don't know how he does it, but Eakaz seems to get the good stuff so I think you'll be happy.

You know, I guess I don't remember too badly he offended or pissed people off here. I usually am in the background when the fireworks light up the sky here at the Review.

He *does* get good stuff and I remember talking to him occasionally. He's a good guy but I think that peoples' biggest beef with him was primarily the fact that he extended no discounts for his stuff to members. I guess I might have been missing something.

Some love Oakley and some love money. For the prior there is the O-Review. For the latter there is eBay. He is where he belongs imho.

There was a whole gaggle of money grubbers that left around the same time. Good riddens, they have no place here.
