They e-mailed me quite a bit and helped flesh out the database, and when the forum was created, as far as I knew, they were the only people who visited the site.

I think we were the only 3 in the forum for at least 2 or 3 days. Then we started to see Obsession and EC showing up and it kept going.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were accounts that existed before the forum. So people could pretty much only make a collection and edit reviews. I don't think I can backtrack and see though. It'd be interesting to see how things evolved though.

Phil and I let Dann do all the hard work making the web site and forum so we could banter back and forth easier. Work is a lot more enjoyable nowadays :-)

It definitely has been fun watching the member list grow, especially all you folks far from the U.S.

Actually on second thought, view the stats and see what day the first post was, then sort the member lost by date the account was created. I'd do it, but I'm on dial-up, and I'm heading to sleep now.

Heh, seriously, it's like all I do at work now.

And you're still using that silly clown icon, that I put up as filler until I got real icon's in place. That shows your vintage.

I feel like I don't ever get any work done, yet amazingly I do. I do love hanging out here all day though. Makes me want to come to work.

The first post was on 7/9/2004 1:27:28 PM (157 days ago).

10 members had accounts before that. We were able to write reviews for a while before you set up the accounts though.

Ha! I wondered when someone was going to say something about the Pink Clown! I thought about changing it to something cooler, but I developed a strange fondness for it.

Yeah once people who were review regulars made accounts, I manually assigned their username to them. There's actually a hidden field in each review which ties it to the member. The name that shows up is independant of that, but can be the same.

And that clown is from the 4th of July parade in 2001. I thought it was exceptionally disturbing. The icon was then made for the Oakley RPG game that I wrote, and then ended up here as a placeholder for the real user icons.

Yeah, I'll integrate that into the site here someday when I figure out how to limit it so it doesn't crash the server with people refreshing the website every five seconds.

I made a text adventure too, but that was sort of dumb. The Oakley trivia section is quite lame at this point too.

I'm by no means an RPG player, I just did it as a programming project to see if I could create balanced gameplay.

shoulda kept into it really, but lost touch, you must be busy programming! must have understanding employers!!

Yeah, it's cool here. I can pretty much do what I want, whether work related or not.

I did one of those Choose your own Adventure books too :P This was years ago when I was in highschool though. I HTMLized it later on.

Could be a javascript issue or a pop up blocker. It prompts you before you sell something with an alert. Do you see the alert when you log in and have a new PM?

I don't have any pop up blockers. I will try again see if there is a prompt. Yeah, I get the prompt for PMs and the like.

I get the prompt, I click okay, it goes away but nothing else happens. I close the inventory window and open it agian, the item remains. Same happens with archive and trash.

Hmm, must be a javascript error, and I suck at javascript. I wonder if I can rework it to some degree.
