So backcountry.com was running a sale on the leather Skull Belts, something I had my eye on for a while, so of course I had to snag one. However, as many have posted on this site, it's difficult to stay closed. My question is, does anyone have a solution to this problem? And, not to reflect my ignorance, but does the solution have anything to do with the separate piece of black leather with the Oakley logo that fastens to the backside of the skull belt buckle, or is that detachable piece only for hanging the belt up when not wearing?

I've never had a problem with mine when I was wearing it. Maybe you are putting it on too loose. I just tried wearing it really loose and then the buckle unhooked.

That problem with the Skull belt is only in the first gen of the black skull belt, the leather is more stiff on that color too compared to the other ones, wich does not help.

My 4 skull belts dont have any problems.

1st Gen have different curves in the hooks, and often the 1st Gen will have 3 hooks. The new generation, or 2nd Gen, have only one hook, but it's angled and curved in such a way that doesn't get loose nor detached while wearing.

The newer belts only have one hook? I have the burnt color belt and that still has 3 hooks. Aren't the burnt (yellow) one of the newest colors?

i wear mine skiing and whenever i would land from a hieght it would undo, so every morning i put an elastic bande around the balls on the hooks, although its a hassle it works.

Yeah, I've been wondering about this as well. Good thread. Maybe if the three pegs we're bent like said above it would work. They're pretty thick pegs though, I imagine its going to be hard to do.

I wore my belt for a few days and it kept coming out and was too big of a hassle...so its just on display for now. I wonder if Oakley would do anything if you sent it in.

My Skull Belt has three prongs, and almost never comes out on it's own (the only time it does is when I accidentally knock it out with my own hands). I do wear it with the buckle slightly on the left though, past the first loop on my waist; it pokes me if I leave it in the front.

I like to wear mine a little off center too. I guess I got to lose some of that gut.

I did think that the pegs may be articulated in a way with a pair of pliers to bend it just enough more to catch it
I've tried this, be careful the prongs are very brittle. I have the 3 prong skull and attempted to this on the rear prongs, They snapped off. I dremmelled them down, leaving the front prong. Now it's fixed to the Oakley leather belt.
