was wondering if you guys have a similar encounter....

i currently have a number of gascans on hand and found that they are all ever so slightly different in size with the Matt black being the biggest as compared to those in Rootbber or polished lack. Maybe ever so slightly is a understatemen!!t...

i could actually use the matt black gascan to wrap around or cover or envelope the other 2 gascans ....I have just checked with the Oakley's webby as well and noticed that there is no alternative/asian fit for gascan...

Could my Matt black gascan be a fluke? i did not even notice the difference till one of my buyers told me that there is a size difference on the gascans after trying on all three...

Maybe i should add that the normal Gascan is alittle too small for my face and is not resting right on me nose except for the matt black 1....which i ahve tried after my buyer told me of the apparent differences....and oh all 3 sunnies are brand new from my local Oakley supplier......

I find the fit on the frames that have gascan printed on the arms to fit wider than the ones without.

The 1st 2 pics shows the matt black gascan enveloping the other Gascan. i have tried to used the other 2 gascan (Polisede and Rootbbeer to do the same 'enveloping' thingy...but it just doesn't fit/work...

the 3rd and 4th pic shows all 3 gascans lined up in what i hope is a straight line...and from the pics you can see that the matt black gascan is significantly larger/wider than the other 2.

could it be the same with the thump 2? i remember trying out the rootbeer gascans, it fitted me well but when my wife gave me the black thump 2 for christmas, it somehow fitted differently. never really realized that til now.

That's strange. I know my Matte Black Cans fit me better (smaller fit) than any of the polished frames I've had. I always thought it was just the Matte finish gripping my head better, but who knows.

Wow...thats weird. You should send some pics over to the HQ and ask them to check it out at the quality control place. It doesnt seem like Oakley to have that big of a variance between the sasme model of sunglasses.

Couldnt'it be curvature (or whatever the word is for curved shape) of the frames? I mean, the more curved, the smaller it looks...

Yeah I though alternative fit had a different wrap to it as well as a different nosebridge.

That would explain the curvature, but it wouldn't explain why the lenses are wider vertically as well... at least that's how it looks in the pics.

Just to clear something up....so is there a alternative/asian fit for the gascans as well?

As i cant seem to find info regarding this from the Oakley website or from here....

As u can see i am leaning towards keeping this pair of slightly wider babies for my personal use (Normal Gascan just do not fit and fit my wide hamburger face as well as this matt black 1 does).....but having just acquired a Spike in the same colour combination (MAtt Black/Grey)this week, i am not very sure what i should do...and most importantly what my gal would say to my latest proposed acquisition....Maybe i should tell her its a gift from someone frm somehwere...heheee

Just wanted to be sure that this is not a alternative fit version and more of a unique item because of whatever reasons (may help in my persuasion story/arguement later...hehe)...but honestly i would much prefer to have it in another colour scheme since i already have the Spike which i must say i absoloutely loved....Maybe i could keep the frame and self customise with another set of Gascan lenses....S**t more andmore ideas are flooding my brain....must be the O-review disease.....

Oh i would be getting a couple more gascans from my supplier and it includes another brand new matt black 1 as well....would update you guys again if there is any difference or if the 'phenomenon' happens only to matt black gascans in general or is just confined to my current piece...

Oh and from my own visual inspection...the nose bridge seems to be of a similar size among all 3 frames

and for the curvature...yes the matt black 1 is not as curved/wrap around like the other 2 gascans....thanks for pointing that out to me....the matt black 1 is slightly wider across the frame and not as curved /wrap around.

Back to working on my unique item story.....heheee

cheers

All the ones in my shop have the same exact dimensions.

Have you tried swapping the lenses between them to see if they're the same size?

That's quite bizarre...

HELLO in the business they say::I on weekend with a Oakley man spoke. That were actually teething troubles of the initial delivery of gascan. With the Pritzel the problem arose again. Our models have all the loose handles.

Thanks Peter.

seems like i am not the only 1 who is having some 'issues' with the Gascans.... So i am assuming there is no Alternative / Asian Fit for the Gascan?

cheers....

Since its the same thing, my White/Ruby Clear Riddles are a tad wider than my newer Black Riddles, and it's bloody annoying as the white frame slips off me head, whereas the black frame is a nice fit. Also, the White frame has brownish marks all over it that wont rub off.

So its not just Gascans but Riddle too.

I checked all 10 of my Gascans and they all have the same curvature.

Ford - I know what you mean about the Riddles, all of mine fit completely different.

Updates...

Just got another brand new Matte black Gascan and Grape Gascan. Looks like the discrepancy only happens to Matte black Gascans (at least from my current batch of sunnies, that is what it seems.) and mine is not the unique piece like i thought. i tried the same 'enveloping' thingy with the new matte black gascan and the grape gascan and got the same result where the matte black frame seems to be fractionally wider and able to accomodate the grape gascan.

I spoke to the dealer about it and he is not too sure what is happening either...his explanation was that this might be due to the signiificant batch differences in the Gascans as can be seen frequently with Oakley Iridium Lenses....

And funny enough i tried on the Riddle as well and yes i agree with you guys (Ford and Kevin) that there is also some fit difference with the riddle as well. tried on 4 different pairs and they all sit ever so slightly different on my face and nose. some was supported on my cheeks while some was able to rest on my nose.

Looks like there is still hope for my significantly wide face..... there might be more oakley models that i can wear than i initially thought.....

cheers...
