With a topic like this I'm bound to cop a lot of flak but what I mean is... though Ruby is such a great lens to look at, they just aren't that good to look through. I may be in the minority here but I find the dull grey/blue tint does very little to improve contrast or even cut out glare and just seems to make everything murkey and..well, just plain dull :/

Also, after having worn my Ruby XX's for the first time I decided to give the lenses a quick clean only to find they streak and smear like crazy. Yes, I was using a clean micro bag but like +Red these things are HARD to clean. With much effort I've managed to get em near perfect again though now there's a couple of swirl marks that won't disapprear, which means they're more like tiny scratches! Granted they're so small you can hardly notice them.. but still. Is there a special art to cleaning ruby lenses?

I'm glad this happened with the XX's and not my Pennys, which I probably won't attempt to clean at all now after this drama.

ruby and + red were initially designed for snow-conditions
that is why they used this grey-ish/blue-ish see through color.

I kind of like looking through Ruby, the blue tint is nice.

Now Ruby Clear, there's an adventure.

i could say the same for the 1st generation fire lens. for some reason the tint started to chip off a pair of juliets i used to own. revealing the yellow lens color. why would that happen?

Personally, I love looking through it.

It is a pain in the rear to clean, though. Same goes for Fire.

I've gotten inured to the color. I guess that implies that I obviously wasn't in love with it at first, and eventually got used to it. Like Redbull.

Ice polarized is my favorite color for bright days, although I prefer a blue iridium coat or black iridium coat aesthetically from the outside observing the lens.

I agree it is very difficult to clean them. I also find after wearing them for a long time it messes up my eyes' ability to contrast colours, which is probably due to the dullness of the lenses. But it is one good looking lense =).

another lens that's contrast decreasing is the emerald iridiums. i can't decide if i like lenses with contrast increase/decrease, or neutrals. what i know is i love them all for the clarity and the out of the world-like effect when looking thru Oakley lenses! nuff said.

ps: i guess it depends on the sun condition of the day, wearing ruby/emeralds on partly cloudy/overcast days is a bad idea, but they work GREAT on sunny days. so, buy more lenses to suit different lighting conditions of your daily needs(for me, i don't need indoors).

I can tell you guys that in my experience that the ruby lenses are the only lenses (besides the occasional) pos red that I actually saw swirly marks on fresh from the factory.

Microfibre is crap for polishing lenses. It has no absorbtion and only moves grease around. A freshly laundered cotton handkerchief is unbeatable in my opinion.

i totally agree...its such a pain to clean those Ruby / Fire lenses....

was wondering if there are any suggestions to clean the lenses but at the same time not scratching it....

just noticed my ruby lenses have some small streaks which cant be cleaned off...must be the microfibre cloth!!
