I went hunting this weekend & one day I wore my MD's for about 8 or 9 hours straight. I noticed at the end of the day my nose, where the nosebridge sits felt kinda raw. Now I also notice this a little with my Crosshairs. I never seemed to have this problem with any pair that had Unobtainium or even the older styles of nose pads like on the Wires (A, E, Square...ect.) I think Unobtainium must breathe better or something. Is anyone else sensitive to this on any certain pair

Well, you did wear them for 8 hours straight. Even after 3 or 4 hours Monster Dogs start digging into my ears and I find myself rubbing my nose a liitle here and there. Same with my Rx frames. It may well be as you think, but even unob gets to me after the same amount of time.

I'm not even sure why I put that bit about the MD's in there, it's kind of a given. I guess I was more concerned about the Crosshairs. Those new little clear pads they're putting on the glasses irritates my nose after a short while & my older Wires didn't. Neither did the U-Bombs. Does anyone else notice a difference?

did you try bending them a little? i know that's kind of basic, but if the pads are too tight, they'll bother you.

or you could just be a big wuss.

I can only wear my MD for 4 hours before they start bugging me, then I have to switch to another pair of oakleys.

Tick, I was just messin'. I have the same problem with my new Juliets, except they hurt the tops of my ears. I guess it has to do with the way the weight of the frame is distributed on your face. Little pads mean more weight on less area.

As a funny aside, my Dad got Lasik in January, and he still has the permanent dents in his nose from wearing glasses in the 30 years since he graduated college.

not sure about the Monsterdogs since i don't have a pair (wouldn't fit on my malformed head anyway) but i'd imagine it's the lack of Unobtanium pads?

regarding the Unobtanium nosepads on Wires, i hate the never slimmer version as opposed the the more confortable wider versions on older Wires. like Brian says, little pads mean more weight on less surface area.

are the nosepads on wires really Unobtainium? i guess they're the same compound as the clear M-Frame nosepiece?

if you are planning for wearing your oakleys for such a long time , be sure to wear the ones with the spring hinge system ( like hatchets ) for X metals, be sure to loosen those earbombs one size ( from 25 to 15 ) , and for crosshairs , somebody already said it ; make sure that the nosepieces are bent correct for the type of nose you have.
go to an optician, he can do the trick.
sometimes , when i am planning on wearing my M FRAMES for a long period, i remove the earsocks , than they fit me better.

I'm pretty sure the clear wire nosepads are silicone like other eyeglass nosepads.

Yes, they're just silicone.

oops, my bad. i always thought they were Unobtanium... well, because they feel much more tackier than any other glasses nosepads i've had.
