I've heard (from this site) that the military version has a layer of kevlar & no flashy markings

The sole is softer, so it makes less squeaking noise, but wears out faster. Also is better in wet situations. SI does not have the logo as a badge, but is embossed right into the leather. Made in US vs China.

Here are my two brand new Assault Boots. Black and Tan military versions.

These are very good quality and very comfortable. I love these more than my cilivian version.

I have all 4 colors now..... I bought the black pair the first day they were released on O.com. They have been to hell and back and thru the dishwasher twice - and I'm still wearing them - so yeah - they wear like iron....

Did I mention I'm 280 and have been wearing these things to the gym for years now.....?

I notice their size run small (could be just me) I had to get them half a size bigger.

Yeah - definitely the newer stuff runs small...I just bought the tan/desert recently and when I tried to wear them - it felt like they were cutting off the circulation to my brain....I'm sure they will stretch as my feet are pretty wide but yeah....seems all shoes I've bought in the last year or so require a half size larger.....

I own two pair of the civilian with the red triangle. Yes they do run small, but there are the most comfortable pair of boots that I have ever had. I have had rockys, bates and danner. and the Oakley's are by far the best. I have noticed that the sole does wear out fast though.
