welcome Cal, Rick, i'm just lucky i guess that mine came with the straight font...not sure if the serial has anything to do with it...i ordered an ichiro lens kit back in Oct. and it came with the slanted 51

You're right. There's no reasoning/pattern behind the differences. They just made two different versions (ever-so-slightly different) and one version is more abundant. And that ends my investigation. Case closed.
