I was checking out that Serial number list someone posted earlier, and realized there isn't one that starts with W and ends with be. However, my plasma/ice juliets do. What does this mean?
The "B" most likely means you have a 3rd edition Plasma frame. Nobody knows what the "W" stands for (which is probably why it isn't listed), but the Plasma/Fire Juliet also had a run with the "W" prefix as well. So, yours could've come originally as a Plasma/Ice or, more likely, as a Plasma/Fire that had the lenses swapped. Let us know so the mystery can be solved.
Bought the original first generation Plasma/Ice Juliets retail from SH. About 9 months ago I noticed the flex points on either side of the nosepeice were becomeing very wabbly, so I sent them in to oakley for repair. They sent me a whole new frame with my original lenses. I was dissapointed because I liked the gen 1 plasma frame because, despite the black tarnish problem, they look cooler. Anyway the serial number was as i described.
*Shrugs* Hard to say whether Plasma/Ice originally came with the "W" prefix. I'm thinking it's probably a mix-and-match job by Oakley (similar to what they did with the Ruby Juliet and the "J" serials with the last pairs they produced) and that the frames you have would've originally come as a Plasma/Fire.
I own a Pair of the W######B Juliets, and did not get them from a rocker, I got them from oakley inc. when I sent my original Plasma/ice in for repairs. I have e-mailed oakley and havnt gotten a response yet as to the strange W serial number. Any Ideas?
That's what I was thinking, too, but I've only seen it on the Plasma frame. I think it's odd that they'd put a "W" on only one type of frame unless, of course, they wanted to track ONLY the Plasma frames and their defects.
i agree on the post up there, the 'W' prefix is to track warranty replacements for plasma, as we all know, the 1st and 2nd gen plasma have the discoloring frame defect. maybe oakley decided to track their replacements to test out some new coating formula on the frames..
but then again, 'w' for wierd is also pretty right for the time being. :D
These are all good ideas, I will let you know when oakley e-mails me back. It seems odd though that a "famous rock star" would ever send his oakleys in for repair. If he was so attatched and cared enough to send them in for repair, why would he sell them to somebody?
