Mahalo for the welcomes. Living and working on the ocean in Hawaii for the last 40+ years, I have owned many different brands and styles of sunglasses. I can say without a doubt, none have taken the abuse and held up as good as Oakley X-metals. Glad to be aboard.
Ya, its to bad Oakley quit making X-metals. All the kids I work with give me nothing but thumbs up and very cool. But with today's prices they will never get to enjoy the feel of wearing a pair of X-metals. Luckily, X-metals are still active wear for me. With the advent of new lense and anti glare technology, I can now get RX lenses with lined bifocals and a exteme glare technology(way better than polarized for viewing lcd screens) in my old X-metals. I use my old Romeo's on the boat everyday. They are RX, lined bifocal, high index lense. They have a dark tint, extreme glare coating, with gold mirror. They look very much like a 24k lense. I also have a pair of Mars I use when driving or working around the dock that have the same lense as my Romeo except they have a ruby mirror and a pair of Juliets with an RX lense similar to a G30 for low light conditions and shooting with a blue mirror. All of my frames I wear everyday are in very good shape. I have a small machine shop at home and am able to rebuild the glasses easily. Take care and look thru 'em, not at them.
Very nice. The Ruby Mars was one of my holy grails for a while. Never got a stock one, but I was able to assemble one from parts back when they were more readily available.
