HI. I am thinking of purchasing some older X-Metals. I was wondering how much I should pay. I am looking at some Juliet Corvette editions ans some Micheal Jordan Romeos. How much should i be paying? Thanks!

I would say : What you can and want to pay is what they will be worth to you.
If you think the price is too high, don't buy them.

In any case those are rare and highly priced items, so you'll never find them at a low price.

Sometimes it is all about luck and patience. You never know when a good deal will pop up on CL or on the boards

With all the crazy amounts being paid nowadays, I'm so glad I jumped on the rarities when the hobby was still in its infancy.

Hi lads and Lassies,

I have a much loved pair of original Oakley Juliets I bought in Ireland in 2000, they are very well looked after but the lenses need replacment now. When I look at the original website (via wayback - nice tip thanks O-Review) the lenses were 40 USD. Oakley customer care in Europe are now looking for 100 EURO! or 114 USD!! and only offering a very limited selection. This selection in replacment lenses gets less and les each year.

Am going on holidays in 2 weeks any tips advice, I guess polarised is best. Was I dreaming that Oakley offered to replace any product/accessory that is no longer made at cost???

Oh yea am finding it very difficult to match the lens colours with the list provided by Oakley Europe.

Email extract below:

I have had a look at our stock and I have pasted below a list of the lenses that we currently have available for the Juliet to purchase directly through Customer Care for the below fees (all include shipping & VAT):

£35.00/50.00€

91-290 X Metal Juliet Lens Dark Bronze

91-299 X Metal Juliet Lens Warm Grey

91-292 X Metal Juliet Lens Grey

£45.00/60.00€

15-215 X Metal Juliet Lens G30

91-294 X Metal Juliet Lens Slate Ird.

15-204 X Metal Juliet Lens Blk Irid.

15-208 X Metal Juliet Lens Ice Ird.

15-198 Juliet Lens Titanium

15-205 Juliet Lens Gold

£75.00/90.00€

91-289 X Metal Juliet Lns Bronze Polarised

91-293 X Metal Juliet Lens Grey Polarised

£85.00/100.00€

15-246 Juliet Lens Tungsten Iridium Polarised

91-219 Juliet Lens VR28 Black Iridium Polarised

If you would like to place an order for any of the above, please reply to this email with your contact details (name, delivery address, and telephone number) and with the code of the lenses that you would like to go for, and one of the team will be happy to set up an order for you and get in touch to advise further.

I can also advise that the accessory kit can be added to the order and this costs £10.00, and with regards to the cleaning kit (which includes the screwdriver) I have a spare one here at my desk that I would be happy to send to you free of charge. I would just need a suitable delivery address to get this sent to you.

If you would like to send them in for servicing, we still do the re-pin service for a fee of £27.50/33.00€, and we can send you the details of where to send your Juliets.

Please be aware that we only accept Visa or MasterCard as valid payment methods.

I hope this is helpful and we look forward to hearing from you.

They don't replace discontinued product at your cost as a trade in. They typically do offer a discount (25%-ish) towards a new pair, however.

Polarized is a personal preference thing, though most people do tend to gravitate to it. I favour polarized over standard lenses these days, but I know some others that don't.
