A guy is selling one for $550 near where I live. Just wondering if that's a decent price or too much? He says its dusty from sitting in garage but otherwise in great condition. Was plugged in as well to show that the light works. Thanks for your opinions ahead of time:)

I am assuming you are talking about Ebay or Craigist? My take on not just 3.0 but all towers is they can go for as little as $200 all the way to $800 or more. Just like sunglassess, its all about what people think they can charge and what people are willing to pay. Just over the last 18 months, smaller towers average $200 - $500 and the mega $500 - $800 with the single-wide and double-wide having little difference between them in price. Of course if you are patient enough i'm sure you could find any one of the models for less than average; just about catching it at the right time.

Unfortunately $550 is pretty average, at least for Ebay and Craigslist. Since the seller is local, maybe you can contact him direct and work out a better deal since shipping cost isn't a factor.

I've wrestled with the idea of getting a tower. My options are limited to Ebay & Craigslist because I don't know anyone that would presumably give me a better deal. Instead, I have to contend with these types of prices which have been a deterrent.

Good luck.

Yep, it was Craiglist Skull. He lives maybe 10 minutes from me so I'm heading over to his place on Sunday to take a closer look. Hopefully we'll be able to work something out. Wish me luck!

Hope it works out. With any luck, he is just trying to get rid of it and will be reasonable with negotiating.

I don't consider that an unfair price, but as has already been pointed out, price ranges vary a lot. However, I do consider myself extremely lucky, having only invested $600 net in my current set-up. I had a 3.0 Mega that became a 3.0 Double, after trading it with a local cycle shop that was down-sizing their product scope. I also found a local shop going out of business and picked up another 3.0 Double for $200.

I would make sure you have your priorities and preferences identified ahead of time, as timing is the critical piece here. I missed out on a Brown Sq. O 3.0 Mega based solely on drive time. I couldn't get there quick enough.

Thanks! It is something I am VERY grateful for. Good luck.

Also, I recommend bringing a dolly/cart and a moving blanket. The feet on the 3.0 are extremely fragile and break, fracture apart when slide on a hard surface. A helping hand is also recommended.

I'll do that for sure and I'll be sure to check those feet out before negotiating. It's in the guys garage so Im sure he's been sliding it back and forth on the concrete floor.

I don't consider it a deal breaker, just an annoyance or hazard when moving them around. It is specifically the black plastic insert within the metal feet.
